    Fourteen

We return after a brief pause to go into Alice Gerstenberg's Fourteen, because doing it on the 13th episode is funny. A dinner party has to have fourteen guests, but what happens when rude guests cancel at the last moment? We follow along to find out, occasionally wandering off into desires to become a debutante and side rants. Expect sincere performances, wandering character voices, irreverent commentary, and the occasional derailment. Whether you’re a literature nerd, a theatre kid, or someone who just likes hearing old shows get roasted, welcome!

    The Stronger

We return to August Strindberg, having realized he was far more interesting than appeared at first glance. Two women meet in a Cafe, and neither of them has a secret criminal past! But we still discover who is the stronger of the two of them. Maybe. Zil delivers a performance of a lifetime, Kay learns the value of quickly reviewing a script before recording, and both agree that drinking absinthe in Berlin dive bars is cool. Expect sincere performances, wandering character voices, irreverent commentary, and the occasional derailment. Whether you’re a literature nerd, a theatre kid, or someone who just likes hearing old shows get roasted, welcome!

    Pariah, or The Outcast

We move into another show, August Strindberg's Pariah, or The Outcast. Two men meet with mysterious criminal pasts and engage in a duel of words and wits. Or something. Listen, it was written by a very out-there Swede while corresponding with a certain German nihilist, so it gets weird. Come check it out. Expect sincere performances, wandering character voices, irreverent commentary, and the occasional derailment. Whether you’re a literature nerd, a theatre kid, or someone who just likes hearing old shows get roasted, welcome!

The Game, a Morality Play in One Act

We start our first double digit episode with a look at Louise Bryant's one and only show: The Game, a Morality Play in One Act. We figure out who wins the fate of the hapless 'Youth' and incredibly named 'Girl' AND Kay teaches Zil how to say Bryant! Expect sincere performances, wandering character voices, irreverent commentary, and the occasional derailment. Whether you’re a literature nerd, a theatre kid, or someone who just likes hearing old shows get roasted, welcome!

    Pygmalion Act 5

We are back for Act 5, the final act! Eliza finally gets a chance to fight back a bit, our favorite dustman returns, and Pickering sadly does not wear a dress. Join us to finish this behemoth of a story and complain about it! Expect sincere performances, wandering character voices, irreverent commentary, and the occasional derailment. Whether you’re a literature nerd, a theatre kid, or someone who just likes hearing old shows get roasted, welcome!

    Pygmalion Act 4

A small summer break, and we are back for Act 4. Join us to be horrified at casual old-timey misogyny and domestic abuse! Small trigger warning and episode flagged as 'explicit' for that reason. Expect sincere performances, wandering character voices, irreverent commentary, and the occasional derailment. Whether you’re a literature nerd, a theatre kid, or someone who just likes hearing old shows get roasted, welcome!

    Pygmalion Act 3

After a rumored kidnapping by enraged rogue linguists, we are back with Pygmalion in Act 3!. We express our love of K dramas, find out that Freud may have been onto something, and also find a second character we like in this show! Expect sincere performances, wandering character voices, irreverent commentary, and the occasional derailment. Whether you’re a literature nerd, a theatre kid, or someone who just likes hearing old shows get roasted, welcome!

    Pygmalion Act 2 pt 2

After a brief interlude, and me figuring out even more audio editing tools, we are back with Pygmalion into the second part of act 2, because we have to finish it someday. We learn about historical words like blackguard, get sidetracked about medieval saints into breast feeding, and learn that Henry Higgins is a dress sniffer. Expect sincere performances, wandering character voices, irreverent commentary, and the occasional derailment. Whether you’re a literature nerd, a theatre kid, or someone who just likes hearing old shows get roasted, welcome!
