Ep. 22: Decluttering Isn't a One-and-Done Project: Why Midlife Changes Everything

Have you ever looked around your home and thought, "I already decluttered this space. Why am I doing it again?" Here's the thing: Decluttering isn't something you finish once and never have to think about again. Especially in midlife, when so much of life is changing. The kids grow up and move out. Your routines shift. Your priorities change. And suddenly, the things you've held onto for years might not fit the life you're living today. In this episode of Tidy Talk, we're talking about why decluttering is an ongoing process, why that's perfectly normal, and how to stop feeling like you're constantly starting over. We'll explore how to: Let go of the idea that decluttering has a finish line. Recognize when your home needs to change along with your life. Release things that belonged to an earlier chapter without letting go of the memories. Make small, manageable decisions instead of waiting for a big burst of motivation. Create a home that supports the woman you are today. Because the goal isn't to have a perfectly decluttered home. It's to have a home that feels good to live in, through every season of life. And you don't have to figure it all out alone. Ep. 21: You Cleared Some Clutter… Now How Do You Keep Going?

You finally made some progress decluttering your home. Maybe you cleared a drawer, tackled a closet or made a few decisions you've been putting off for months. It feels great! But then life gets busy, and before you know it, another week has gone by. Sound familiar? For women in midlife and the empty nest years, finding time to declutter can be challenging, especially when you're juggling work, family responsibilities, aging parents and everything else life brings. In this episode of Tidy Talk, I'm sharing what happened during our first Clutter-Free Circle Connection Call and decluttering session with a wonderful group of women who recently joined us for a two-week experience. They showed up motivated, chose an area to work on and started making decisions. And one of the things that made it so special was knowing they weren't doing it alone. But what happens when that first burst of motivation wears off? We'll talk about how to keep making progress without feeling like you have to declutter every day, why taking a break doesn't erase what you've accomplished, and one simple thing you can do before walking away from a project that makes it easier to pick up where you left off. Because the goal isn't to spend every free moment organizing. It's to create a home that's easier to live in, where you can find what you need, enjoy your space and spend less time managing all the stuff. You don't have to keep going every single day to keep making progress. You just need a way to come back to what you've started. ✨ Join the Clutter-Free Circle Membership Looking for ongoing decluttering support, accountability and dedicated time to actually work on your home alongside women who understand? Ep. 19: How to Start Decluttering This Fall Without Doing It All

Fall has a way of making us look around our homes and think, Okay, now I'm finally going to deal with all of this. But when your mind jumps from starting to everything it would take to finish, it can be easy to put the whole thing off for another day. In Episode 19 of Tidy Talk, we're talking about that all-or-nothing mindset and a different question you can ask yourself this fall: Instead of focusing on everything you haven't gotten done, what could feel different in your home a few months from now? Maybe your closet is easier to use. Maybe there's finally room to put things away. Maybe you've made decisions about the boxes you've been avoiding, or there's simply one area of your home that no longer feels overwhelming every time you walk past it. Your whole house doesn't have to change for your home to start feeling different. And sometimes we're so busy noticing everything we haven't gotten to yet that we forget to look at what we have done and recognize how even those small changes are already making our home feel a little better. 🍂 Registration is OPEN for Clear Your Clutter: Fall Edition! Ep.18: Why Decluttering Gets More Emotional In Midlife

Decluttering in midlife can feel very different than it did years ago. By this stage of life, so many of the things in our homes are connected to people, memories and different seasons we’ve lived through. The kids’ things, family keepsakes, gifts, belongings from parents, clothes from an earlier version of ourselves—even things we don’t necessarily want anymore can carry a story that makes letting go feel complicated. In Episode 18 of Tidy Talk, we’re talking about why decluttering can become more emotional in midlife and why having a hard time making certain decisions doesn’t necessarily mean you should keep everything. Sometimes it simply means the decision deserves a little more thought. We’ll talk about slowing down, understanding what’s really making an item difficult to let go of, and beginning to decide what still belongs in the life and home you have today. Because the goal isn’t to erase your past or get rid of the things that matter. It’s to keep the memories that are meaningful to you while creating a home that feels easier to live in, manage and enjoy in this season of your life. 🍂 Registration is OPEN for Clear Your Clutter: Fall Edition! Join me September 29th, 30th & October 1st for my FREE 3-day workshop, where we’ll start small, make some of those decluttering decisions you’ve been putting off, and begin creating a home that feels easier to live in and manage. Ep. 17: The Clutter You Don't See Still Takes Up Space

Your home may look pretty clutter-free on the outside…but when was the last time you looked behind closed doors? In Episode 17 of Tidy Talk, we’re talking about the clutter that can quietly collect inside our closets, cabinets and drawers. It may be neatly tucked away and completely out of sight, but it’s still taking up valuable space and can make everyday life harder than it needs to be. I’m also sharing why, when I work with clients, what’s behind those closed doors often gives me a much clearer picture of where they’re really struggling and why those are often the areas I suggest we start. Because sometimes the clutter sitting on the kitchen counter isn’t really the problem. The problem may be that there’s nowhere to put it because the cabinets are already full. This week, I’m giving you one very simple challenge: open one door. Take a look at what’s actually there, notice what you use and what you may have completely forgotten about, and see if one or two small decisions could give you a little more breathing room. Because creating a home that’s easier to live in and manage isn’t just about how it looks. It’s about how it works for you every day. ✨ My free three-day Clear Your Clutter: Fall Edition workshop is coming September 29th through October 1st. I’ll be sharing more details very soon, so for now, mark those dates on your calendar! Ep. 16: Is Your Home Asking Too Much From You?

Is your home asking too much of you? We don't usually think about how much work our belongings create for us, but everything we choose to keep needs something: a place to live, time to clean or maintain it, and sometimes our energy just to move it around, organize it or find it when we need it. In Episode 16 of Tidy Talk, we're looking at the little ways our homes can quietly become harder to manage. Maybe you're rearranging the pantry every time you bring home groceries, searching through a closet full of clothes to find something to wear, or constantly moving things around just to make everything fit. The answer isn't always another bin, shelf or organizing system. Sometimes it's asking a different question: Do I still want to keep taking care of all of this? This isn't about becoming a minimalist or getting rid of everything you love. It's about making thoughtful decisions so your home becomes easier to live in, easier to manage and easier to find what you need, leaving more of your time and energy for the life you're actually living. ✨ And I'm also sharing a little sneak peek at my free three-day Clear Your Clutter: Fall Edition workshop, coming September 29th through October 1st. More details are coming soon! Progress over perfection, and one small step at a time. Ep. 15: When Your Home Is Full of Decisions You Keep Avoiding

Have you ever walked into a room, looked at all the things you need to deal with...and walked right back out? Sometimes what looks like a clutter problem is really a decision problem. In this episode of Tidy Talk, we’re talking about all those decisions we keep putting off: the box you don’t know what to do with, your grown kids’ belongings, sentimental pieces, and those “I might need this someday” items that keep finding their way back onto the shelf. I’m also sharing the area of my own home that I tend to avoid (yes, even as a professional organizer!) and why I’ve realized that so much of what’s holding me back isn’t the stuff itself. It’s all the decisions attached to it. We’ll talk about why “I don’t know” doesn’t always mean “I want to keep it,” how decision fatigue can make decluttering feel harder than it needs to, and why you don’t have to make every decision today. Sometimes making just one decision you’ve been avoiding is enough to create a little breathing room. ✨ Join me in the Reset Room! We’re meeting Saturday, August 29th for our monthly free guided decluttering session. Share the area that’s been frustrating you or where you’ve been feeling stuck, and we’ll talk it through together before choosing a place to focus. Then we’ll spend some time getting to work alongside one another. It’s completely free and your camera is optional. 👉 Save your free spot here: Other ways to connect with me: ✨ Join the Clutter-Free Circle Membership Where you'll find guidance, community and encouragement for your decluttering journey.Clutter-Free Circle ✨ Join my free Break Up With Clutter for Midlife + Empty Nest Women FB Community: Facebook Group ✨ Follow me on Instagram: suzzanne.cafiero ✨ Follow Sweet Spaces on Facebook: Facebook Page 🎙️ Enjoying Tidy Talk?
