a lot of unfair and hateful personal attacks online. That made me sad, so I came back to note that my review here is intended to analyze and push back on an idea presented/rhetoric used, not to join in on any internet hate this creator already receives. While I stand by my disagreement with her opinion on this topic, I still sincerely wish her the best and hope she is doing well.)
You can be a good wife and also want to maintain the right to vote, y’all.
I’m a wife. I love my husband. I also love my right to vote. Women’s suffrage is neither the source of nor is it meaningfully contributing to modern America’s problems. There is a logical fallacy being presented here. Bear in mind that correlation does not imply causation.
As noted in this podcast, there are MANY valid critiques of modern feminism. I agree with the host on many issues she raised. But using those critiques to push anti-women’s-suffrage ideology into America is not good.
If we do not have the right to vote, we do not have the full rights of citizenship that this country affords to those born or naturalized here. This is a vital element that this discussion is missing.
Moreover, it will be better for women, better for men, and better for America if smart, principled women continue to speak up and vote according to those principles.
As a side note, and speaking as someone who holds a history degree…the counter-suffrage movement is not “hidden from history classrooms.” At least not at the public university I attended 🤷♀️
