Refresh My Drink

Hosted by Ryan Whitwell-Dwyer

You may know me as “that brother” from the 2014 Google headlines or even more recently from the podcast "My Sister the Murderer". But trust me, becoming a suburban Brisbane step-DILF has been far more traumatic. Pour a drink and join me each week as we unpack pop culture, headline news, office politics, real life, strong opinions, and whatever chaos the week throws our way. Expect laughs, honest conversations, relatable guests, and the occasional unhinged hot take. 🍸 Refresh your drink… but let’s make it EXTRA DIRTY. *New episodes drop weekly on Sunday nights*

Uncorked — The Lost Episode (Bonus Episode)

⚠️ Content warning: This episode includes discussions of death, murder, incarceration and difficult family experiences. Listener discretion is advised. 🍷 Refresh My Drink: Uncorked — The Lost Episode Some episodes are planned. Some are polished. And some get recorded, forgotten about, and left to gather dust in the vault. 🍷 Welcome to Uncorked: The Lost Episode — an old recording that never made it to air, until now... A quick heads-up: this episode has been sitting on the shelf for a while, so some stories, opinions or topics may sound familiar if you’ve listened to later episodes. But this is where some of it first spilled out — before the edits, before the polish, and before we decided what was actually making it to air. Recorded over a few glasses of rosé, this one is a little tipsy, a little chaotic, and very much us. Ryan and Adele get stuck into corporate icks, workplace politics, unsolicited Teams calls, Friday meetings and the people who somehow manage to make working life that little bit more f*****g painful. And just when you think it’s all wine-fuelled rants and questionable decisions, things take a more personal turn. Ryan opens up about his family, his past, and his incarcerated sister, Brittney Dwyer — touching on difficult family experiences, murder, loss and the parts of your story that don’t always stay in the past. It starts with a drink, gets a little messy, and ends somewhere a lot more personal than either of us probably intended. No fancy production. No perfectly rehearsed takes. Just an old episode, two friends, a few glasses of rosé and a conversation that was never meant to see the light of day. 🥂 The RMD vault is open. The wine is poured. This one's UNCORKED.

✈️ AIRPORT FUCKERIES - SOCK JUICE, SEAT KICKERS & 17 F***S LATER (bonus series)

Bonus Series! Welcome to Airport Fuckeries — your new sporadic bonus episode where Ryan and Adele unpack the absolute feral behaviour that happens when people are 30,000 feet in the air and apparently forget how to behave like a functioning member of society. This week Ryan & Adele move from the lounge bar to the airport bar...we're talking passengers putting their socks on tray tables (yes, really 🤢), seat-hogging middle-armrest offenders, drunk passengers who treat the aisle like a public toilet, screaming kids, clueless parents and the people who clearly should have caught the train instead. And because no airport rant would be complete without a little profanity, Adele dropped the word f**k and its variations 17 times in just over seven minutes. Honestly, we counted. 😂 🥂 NOW IT'S YOUR TURN! Have you witnessed something absolutely cooked at an airport or on a flight? A passenger from hell? A questionable hygiene incident? A flight attendant story that still haunts you? We want ALL of it. Email your airport horror stories to refreshmydrinkpodcast@gmail.com and we might feature them in a future Airport Fuckeries bonus episode. Names can be kept anonymous, so don't hold back. Because if there's one thing we know, it's that the skies aren't always friendly… and some people should absolutely not be allowed to fly. 🍸 Refresh your drink… but let's make it EXTRA Dirty.

    We’re Back Bitches – S01E14

We're back bitches – S01E14 Did someone say 2007? Because we’re back like a Britney Spears comeback. 🍸 After disappearing for a month, Ryan and Adele are finally back — and before you ask, yes, we’re still doing the podcast. We just got tired. 😂 So what have we been doing while we were gone? Adele's been gallivanting around the country, Ryan's been thinking about hair transplants, jawlines, Botox and whether South Korea can finally fix his face — and somehow we still managed to get distracted by animated TikTok ads selling Korean skincare. Then we get serious. How do you actually know someone will be good at their job when they're sitting across from you in an interview? Ryan and Adele get into the b******t of recruitment, whether being too good at an interview is really a red flag, reference checks, trusting your gut and the very real pain of hiring someone who turns out to be completely wrong for the job. We also ask the question every corporate professional eventually has to ask themselves: Why the f**k are we taking work so seriously? We're not curing cancer. We're selling cubes. And finally, we head to the lobby bar to investigate one of pop culture's favourite superstitions: do celebrities really die in threes? We attempt to prove it, Adele attempts to fact-check it, and Ryan refuses to let science get in the way of a good theory. It's been a month. We missed you. We're back, bitches. 🥂 Refresh your drink... but let's make it EXTRA Dirty.

    Chicken Nugget Clouds – S01E12

Chicken Nugget Clouds – S01E12 We’re back, we’re a little dusty, and apparently chicken nugget clouds are now a thing. 🍸 This week, Ryan and Adele are poolside and letting the conversation go wherever the f**k it wants. First up: airport people. Loudspeaker phone calls, security-line chaos, people blocking the baggage carousel, passengers getting up before the plane has even reached the gate, and the woman on our flight who somehow managed to turn a perfectly normal journey into a live episode of The Real Housewives of Economy Class. Then things take a more serious turn as we talk about Pauline Hanson, Australian politics and the growing frustration with where the country is heading. We also throw our drinks at Kelly Dodd and unpack her controversial comments about transgender people, following on from our conversation with Ward in the last episode. And then, because apparently this is how our brains work, we ask a very important question: What disgusting or slightly unhinged things do you do when nobody is watching? Eating dinner in bed. Clipping toenails in bed. Retrieving food from the bin. Shower habits. Snot. We confess it all—and we want to hear yours too. Finally, we go Bottomless and discover that McDonald's doesn't actually have one universal price, Coles and Woolworths don't stock the same products everywhere, IGA might not be quite as "for the people" as advertised, and Ryan gets very passionate about free-range eggs. Oh, and we also get into what it's actually like to work in prison, including Britney's jobs, pay and rehabilitation. 🥂 Refresh your drink... but let's make it EXTRA Dirty.
