    20. It's Not a Uniform: Living Boldly for Christ in Everyday Life

Sometimes God shows up in the big, undeniable moments. But sometimes, He’s in the smallest details: the smile you needed, the conversation that came at just the right time, the nudge you couldn’t shake, or the opportunity placed right in front of you. In Episode 20, Darby is talking about noticing those moments and being willing to respond when God puts us in a position to do something. Maybe it’s standing up for someone when it would be easier to stay quiet. Maybe it’s redirecting someone who’s headed down the wrong path, praying for someone who needs wisdom, sharing a meal, or simply lending a hand. As Christians, we aren’t just called to notice the need. We’re called to be willing to step into it—even when it’s uncomfortable. Because sometimes that little “God wink” you’ve been praying to receive might actually be something God is asking you to be for someone else.   Resources If you're looking for a simple way to help your family grow deeper in God's Word together, I'd love to invite you to explore the Dear Disciple Box. 19. Putting God First: What Are We Passing Down?

What we plant today becomes part of what someone else carries tomorrow. But in the busyness, distractions, and constant “what ifs” of everyday life, it’s easy to put off the things we say matter most. In this episode, I’m talking about what it really means to prepare the field, plant the seed, and seek first the Kingdom of God. From a question my four year old son asked about my Papa, to something my oldest child unexpectedly telling me to turn up on the radio, to spin class, church, cattle bloodlines, and even a little country music—God has been showing me just how much our small, repeated choices matter. We have influence, but we don’t have control. Our job isn’t to guarantee the outcome. Our job is to plant. So instead of only asking, “What happens if I do?” maybe it’s time to ask: What happens if I don’t? Our babies are growing. The years are passing. And one day, when we pass on, what will we have passed down?   Scripture Matthew 6:33 Proverbs 24:27   Resources If you're looking for a simple way to help your family grow deeper in God's Word together, I'd love to invite you to explore the Dear Disciple Box. 18. Facing Your Giants: Trusting God When You Can’t See a Way Through

We spend so much of life asking, “Are we there yet?” When will the prayer be answered? When will the business grow? When will this hard season end? When will we finally make it to the other side? In this episode, we’re looking at David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17 and what it means to face the “giants” in our own lives with faith. David still had to pick up the stone, step onto the battlefield, and face Goliath, but he knew where his strength and victory came from. “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty.” — 1 Samuel 17:45 From farmers planting crops, to teachers changing lives, to business owners building something from the ground up, we have a part to play. But when God brings the harvest, opens the door, or gets us to the other side, are we giving Him the recognition—or are we taking the credit? Maybe you’re not “there” yet. Maybe the giant is still standing in front of you. But God is here. And maybe what He’s showing you about Himself along the way matters just as much as reaching the destination. 16. Do You Know What is Draining You? The Battles You Never Needed to Fight

What if the reason you’re so exhausted isn’t just because you have too much to do, but because you’re fighting too many battles?   From toddler independence and daughters who suddenly refuse to wear bows, to husbands who somehow miss the basket you specifically put there for their things...motherhood is full of moments where we have to decide: Is this really worth my energy?   In this episode, we’re talking about the difference between the battles that require our attention and the ones we need to release. Because not every irritation needs to become an argument, not every problem is ours to fix, and not every outcome is ours to control.   Through the story of Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20, we’re reminded that a battle can be very real—and still belong to God.   Maybe making time for Mom isn’t always about finding another hour in the day. Maybe sometimes it starts by putting down the things God never asked us to carry.   “The battle is not yours, but God’s.” — 2 Chronicles 20:15   Resources If you're looking for a simple way to help your family grow deeper in God's Word together, I'd love to invite you to explore the Dear Disciple Box. 15. When the Coffee Isn't Doing it Anymore: When You Keep Running on Empty

Have you ever found yourself reaching for another cup of coffee to fuel yourself and regain your energy...only to realize the coffee isn't doing it anymore? Sometimes our bodies recognize exhaustion long before our minds are willing to respond. Instead of listening, we push through. We grab more caffeine, reach for our phones, turn on more noise, or find another task to accomplish. But what if the things we're reaching for aren't meeting the need at all? What if they're helping us mask the signal? In Episode 15 of Called & Rooted, Darby talks about why rest can feel like laziness, why high achievers have such a hard time stopping, and what Scripture shows us about God's design for rest. From Elijah being told, “the journey is too much for you,” to Peter sleeping in the middle of uncertainty, we're looking at what happens when we finally stop trying to run on empty. If you've been waiting for permission to stop, leave something unfinished, and simply go to bed—this episode is for you.   Scripture 1 Kings 19:5–8 Psalm 127:2 Acts 12:6–7   Resources If you're looking for a simple way to help your family grow deeper in God's Word together, I'd love to invite you to explore the Dear Disciple Box. 13. Is That God or Is That Me? 3 Ways to Discern God’s Voice

Have you ever prayed for God to give you clarity and then wondered, “Is that God speaking—or is that just me?” In Episode 13, we're talking about how to discern God's voice when you're surrounded by your own thoughts, other people's opinions, and the noise of everyday life. We'll talk about why not everything is a sign from God, the danger of searching until we hear the answer we want, and why knowing God's Word is so important when we're seeking His direction. I'll also share how God continued to place the idea of starting this podcast on my heart in the most ordinary moments—and what it taught me about making room to hear Him. You don't have to desperately search for God's voice. He knows where to find you. Scriptures: Proverbs 3:5–6, Psalm 119:105, Proverbs 15:22, 2 Timothy 4:3–4, 1 John 4:1, Psalm 46:10, Jeremiah 17:9, John 10:27, Isaiah 30:21   Resources If you're looking for a simple way to help your family grow deeper in God's Word together, I'd love to invite you to explore the Dear Disciple Box.
