My Story For His Glory Episode 18 | Pst. Edwin Odero

The Cost of Obedience: Storms, Setbacks, and Starting Over in Homa Bay with Pastor Edwin Odero In this gripping continuation of My Story For His Glory, Evangelist Priscillah Wafula welcomes back Pastor Edwin Odero to discuss the profound realities and heavy costs of answering God's call. Pastor Edwin candidly shares his grueling seven-year struggle to accept a divine mandate to relocate his ministry from the comfort and financial security of Nairobi to Homa Bay - a region he initially resisted due to its heavy presence of witchcraft and lack of spiritual fire. Leaving behind a weeping, thriving congregation in May 2019, he moved his family by faith, only to walk straight into immediate and devastating opposition. Pastor Edwin details a series of heartbreaking setbacks that tested his resolve to the core. He recounts the agony of losing his newly leased church land and the money invested in it just three weeks before his launch due to a sudden family dispute from the landowner. Shortly after relocating to a new plot and pitching a 150-seater tent, a bizarre and violent storm blew the structure apart. He opens up about the deep internal turmoil of standing on a pulpit preaching about the "storms of life" while internally crying and questioning if he had truly heard God's voice, a trial that was immediately followed by the crushing financial weight of the COVID-19 lockdowns. If you have ever obeyed a divine instruction only to find yourself in the middle of a fierce storm, this episode is a raw and encouraging reminder that tribulations are often the training ground for your greatest spiritual assignment. Key Takeaways in this Episode: The Reluctance to Relocate: Why Pastor Edwin hesitated for seven years to move to Homa Bay, battling fears of financial ruin, territorial witchcraft, and his own spiritual father's initial doubts.Spiritual Mapping: The undercover three-day prayer trip to Homa Bay where God revealed the exact junction for the church and gave him the name "Upper Hill, the city of worship".Sabotaged Beginnings: The frustrating experience of having a land lease revoked by the owner's family after investing heavily in clearing the land and building latrines just weeks before the launch.Navigating Religious Mindsets: The shock of discovering that locals expected to be paid to attend church, assuming Pentecostal ministries were heavily funded by foreign sponsors.Preaching Through the Pain: How Pastor Edwin found the strength to preach a message of hope the same week a strange wind physically destroyed his church tent, all while secretly questioning God in his heart.Pursuing intimacy with God. From Secretarial School to Shaping Generations: Relocation, Teaching, and Intimate Ministry with Minister Sarah Mugi In this heartwarming episode of My Story For His Glory, Evangelist Priscillah Wafula sits down for an intimate conversation with her biological sister, Minister Sarah Mugi. Sarah, a mother of three and a proud grandmother of two, shares the beautiful and unexpected unfolding of her life, career, and calling. Sarah reflects on her upbringing in Nyeri County, where her parents - who were both teachers - provided a strong and supportive foundation. Although she initially dreamed of being a soldier or a banker, her father enrolled her in secretarial college, a move that became a crucial stepping stone. After relocating to Doha, Qatar in 2004 to join her husband, Sarah boldly applied for a position at the Cambridge International School. Beyond her career, Sarah opens up about her unique ministry journey. Missing the close-knit church community she experienced at Pepha Church in Kenya, she began hosting women's fellowship meetings right in her Doha living room.
