Hope When Life Feels Hard | Revelation 7

Where do we find hope when life feels hard? In this talk for All Saints' Day, Andy Symonds explores Revelation 7 and the extraordinary vision of a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people and language standing before God's throne. The passage reminds us that, whatever we face in this life, our hope is secure in Jesus. One day, we will stand in his presence, where there will be no more hunger, thirst or suffering, and God himself will wipe away every tear from our eyes. Remembering those who have gone before us, we're encouraged to persevere in faith, surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, fixing our eyes on Jesus.

    What Is God Really Like?

What is God really like? Many of us carry assumptions about God that have been shaped by culture, disappointment, experience, or religion itself. Yet one of the central claims of Christianity is that if we want to know what God is like, we look at Jesus. In this sermon, we explore Psalm 50:7-15 and Matthew 9:9-26, where God challenges false pictures of himself and reveals his heart through Christ. Through the calling of Matthew, the healing of a woman who had suffered for twelve years, and the raising of a young girl from death, we discover a God who desires mercy rather than sacrifice, relationship rather than transaction, and who moves towards people long before they have everything figured out. The Love at the Centre of the Universe

The Trinity can often feel like one of the most difficult Christian doctrines to understand. Yet the Bible presents it not as a puzzle to solve but as a relationship to enter. In this Trinity Sunday sermon, James reflects on Isaiah 40:12–17, 27–31 and Matthew 28:16–20, discovering that the God who measures the oceans in the hollow of his hand is also the God who welcomes us into his life. Exploring themes of belonging, communion, discipleship, and God's invitation to the weary, this message reminds us that at the centre of the universe is not power but love.
