Ready Player 2 is the gaming podcast where the important stuff gets discussed: Titles they've played, rants, and the chaos that usually ensues. Ready Player 2 is a gaming podcast held together by banter, bad takes, and a deep love of the medium. Swears included at no extra charge.

    Episode 4: Chalk Balloon Baby

All four are back, the name has been trimmed, and nobody can agree on how many hours make "a couple". Rich, Lee, Ross, and El return for narrators with god complexes, football games that have quietly turned into slot machines, and a £40 handheld that has apparently fixed gaming forever. We've dropped the 'Continue' because Rich couldn't remember it. So this is Ready Player 2, episode 4. Or episode 102, if you're feeling pedantic. Rich finally plays The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, roughly a decade late, and falls hard for its lilting narrator, its forty-odd endings, an achievement for not playing for ten years, and a bucket he point blank refuses to explain. Ross wades into FC26 (formerly FIFA, now a card-pack gambling machine with football attached), where the base pack costs 100,000 coins, the FIFA licence has wandered off to Netflix, and saying "GG" earns you a torrent of abuse from teenagers with better strikers than you. El champions The Drifter, Powerhoof's stunning 2D point-and-click of conspiracies, time-travelling agents and a genuinely awful bit with a lake, then digs out the bargain-bin brilliance of Don't Escape: 4 Days to Survive. Lee has bought a TrimUI Brick second hand off eBay, declared gaming fixed, and now carries it everywhere to play The Minish Cap in car parks. His long-awaited Retroid Pocket 6 shipped the same day. It may never leave the drawer. Along the way: what actually counts as retro, the slow death and quiet survival of the point-and-click adventure, Rich's stint writing for the Australian Nintendo Magazine System (and the final issue that was never printed), why old gaming mags were quite so unpleasant, and an update on Lee's hacked Discord — the servers are back, the members came with them, and Discord even gave him his money back. Ross finishes with Happy Side of Par, a golf game with no microtransactions in it whatsoever, which in 2026 counts as a plot twist. Games discussed: The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, EA Sports FC26, The Drifter, Don't Escape: 4 Days to Survive, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, A Link to the Past, Dispatch, Disco Elysium, Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Day of the Tentacle, Discworld II, Path of Exile 2, Arc Raiders, and a whole lot more. Episode 3: Sweating for Clicks

All four are back and sweating for your attention. Rich, Lee, Ross, and El return to wade through the latest gaming industry shenanigans, shake their fists at some truly awful hackers, get excited about 'new' handheld hardware, and somehow end up deep in conversation about games that will appeal to anyone who considers a well-organised spreadsheet a form of self-care. Starting off Lee talks about a trip to The Retro Computer Museum, and a dismal example of Discord's customer service. Ross kicks off a spirited debate about physical media and the skyhigh preorder price of Grand Theft Auto 6. El shares knowledge of a controversial wolf man and how fans of Love and Deepspace have responded around the globe. (Conveniently forgetting that monsters are called 'wanderers'. We'll blame the heat.) Rich brings us back to games talking through his experience with Path of Exile 2 and the glorious skills tree within. Lee talks about his newest purchase, the Retroid Pocket Six. Ross takes us back to Cyberpunk 2077, and how it's improved since day 1. El wraps it up through her love of the dark aesthetics of the Blasphemous franchise. Games discussed: GTA 6, Blasphemous 2, Path of Exile 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Love and Deepspace, and many more. RP2-Continue Ep 2: Here To Shoot Things and Influence People

Welcome back to RP2-Continue? Rich isn't here today (we might have eaten him), so Lee, Ross, and El are taking the reins to catch up on what we’ve been playing, making, and fixing. Talking retro consoles to start, (because no episode is complete without discussing the relics in our attics), and what begins as a chat about upcoming releases somehow ends with something extremely unpleasant emerging from beneath an oil rig. Strap in for a smorgasbord of pitstops of upcoming games and beloved classics. In this episode, we dive into the nostalgia of chunky retro handhelds like the original Game Boy and the PSP, and Lee shows off a very cool PC Engine Briefcase repair project alongside a custom ZX81 mechanical keyboard. Lee also does a taste test of some questionable Japanese snacks  (yes, Lee actually ate "Creamy Colon" and accidentally got buzzed on whiskey jellies).  On the gaming front, El is bursting at the seams with upcoming gaming news, and ends up waxing lyrical about the immaculate, terrifying vibes of Still Wakes the Deep. While Ross takes us on a nostalgia trip with the 90s-infused indie game Mixtape and drifts around Mount Fuji in Forza.  Games discussed include: Still Wakes the Deep, Silent Hill: Townfall, God of War: Laufey, Alien: Fireteam 2, Alien: Isolation 2, Until Dawn 2, Forza, Spyro, Gundam, Rayman, and a whole lot more. Swears included free of charge. Subscribe, comment, and let us know what's on your radar. — Chapters:0:00 - Intro: Where is Rich?2:00 - The Golden Era of Retro Handhelds (Game Boy, PSP & Hand Cramps)9:30 - Taste Testing: Creamy Colon & Whiskey Jellies12:30 - Lee’s Workshop: PC Engine Briefcase & ZX81 Keyboard18:00 - Gaming News: Until Dawn 2, Alien Isolation, and Silent Hill24:00 - El Reviews Still Wakes the Deep31:00 - Ross Plays Mixtape & Forza47:00 - Outro & Social Links Follow the Hosts:Lee: Catch more hardware repairs and projects over on More Fun Making It and More Fun Fixing It.
