When the Wicked Prosper | Job 20–21 & What’s the Best Bible Translation? Ep.7

In Episode 7 of Faith After Hours, we dig into Job 20–21 and focus on Job 21:1–7, where Job pushes back against easy answers about suffering and wrestles with a question that still echoes today: Why do the wicked sometimes seem to prosper while the righteous suffer? In the middle of this tension, we are reminded that Scripture does not hide suffering or pretend life is simple. Job’s cries point forward to the greater reality fulfilled in Jesus Christ—who was perfectly righteous, without sin, and yet willingly suffered unjustly. He was mocked, rejected, and crucified, not because He deserved it, but because He came to bear the sins of the world. In His suffering, we see both the depth of human brokenness and the perfect obedience of the Son of God, who trusted the Father even unto death, and rose again in victory. We also talk about the question, “What’s the best Bible translation?” and even touch on the Hawaii Pidgin version, which is a lot of fun to quote and helps bring familiar passages to life in a fresh way. The goal is not to win a translation debate, but to faithfully hear, understand, and obey God’s Word in whatever language it reaches us. Above all, we are pointed again to the Gospel: Jesus Christ suffered while remaining perfectly holy, died for our sins, rose again on the third day, and offers forgiveness and new life to all who believe in Him. Join us for an honest conversation about suffering, God’s justice, Scripture, and the hope we have in Christ. "Proclaiming Christ and Preparing his People"

Episode 5 - Job 11–14 | Why Does God Allow Evil? | Finding Hope in the Midst of Suffering

Why does a good God allow evil? It's one of the oldest and hardest questions ever asked—and it's the same question people were asking thousands of years ago in the book of Job. In Episode 5 of Faith After Hours, we continue our walk through Job chapters 11–14, looking at Zophar's accusations, Job's response, and what Scripture teaches about suffering, God's sovereignty, and the brokenness of a world cursed by sin. We discuss: Job 11–14Why evil and suffering existThe effects of the Fall on creationGod's justice and His sovereigntyWhy suffering isn't always punishment for personal sinThe hope found in ChristWhile we may not receive every answer this side of eternity, Scripture reminds us that God has not abandoned His creation. The greatest evidence of that is Jesus Christ, who stepped into our suffering, bore our sin on the cross, and rose again so that all who repent and believe in Him can have eternal life. No matter where you are today, our prayer is that this episode points you beyond the problem of evil and toward the Savior who defeated sin and death. "In this world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." — John 16:33 If you enjoyed this episode: 👍 Like the video 💬 Leave your thoughts in the comments 📖 Subscribe as we continue studying through the book of Job and discussing today's toughest questions through the lens of Scripture.
