Jah Wobble [xl recordings] Midfield General - Reach Out feat. Linda Lewis [Skint] Lyrics Born - Shades of Jade [Mobile Home Recordings] episode 138 Two brand spankers open our show today. First, a piece from worriedaboutsatan's new album Outland. That's followed by the new single by Marika Hackman. We explore the improvisational ambient jazz of US quartet Fuubutsushi; and hear another wonderful warming folk song from Jake Xerxes Fussell's latest LP. We dig deep into Underworld's early history. And check in on the DIY kitchen indie pop of The Reds, Pinks and Purples. There's some classic T. Rex. And I share some of the exceptional drum work of Japanese taiko master Joji Hirota, who recently passed away. There's yet another new song from Peter Gabriel to share. And, an exceptional example of circle singing from the inventor of the technique Bobby McFerrin, and a recording from the late 90s with Voicestra. From his new album, a beautiful piece by composer Max Richter who reworks his recent collaboration with choreographer Wayne McGregor, MaddAddam, into a stand-alone listening experience inspired by Margaret Atwood's trilogy. Hear Jacques Brel's version alternative of the broadway song The Impossible Dream, before three heavy tracks. The first of which comes from Belgium's mood rich and hard shoegaze group Slow Crush. That's followed by Japan's Boris. Finishing this trilogy of slabs with the flip to Blawan's latest single. I play another song from Natalie Imbruglia's new album. And a listener chosen track by Whitesnake. It's easily the most 80s sounding thing on our show today, as well as being the most epic. So thanks for that recommendation Tim. We take a rare dip into The Cure. I love the band but I rarely seem to play them. Hear a banger from Tiga's latest album. Brooklyn's GIFT make another appearance. And whilst Emma Ruth Rundle has just released a new album, I've chosen to ignore that and look to an old song from her 2nd album. Hear the latest from Richard Russell's project Everything Is Recorded. An old big beat track from the turn of the century. As weird a phrase as that sounds relating to an electronic dance track, that's the truth. And yea, seeing us out, the voice that is Lyrics Born. Thanks for listening. Tell your friends. Have a great day. Mx. Mornings With Mx broadcasts live on Thursdays here on Patreon, and Twitch. follow Mx Bluesky / Instagram / SoundCloud

Drifting into the lighter, etheral sound of Maria Somerville, and Madonna. Montreal duo ALL HANDS_MAKE LIGHT take us into their celestial world, setting us up for some frenzied sludge by Ty Segall. Suitably relaxed but curious, it's time to push the tempo up with brand new gyrofield. Whilst German techno producer VNNN. gets remixed by Dutch producer Nadia Struiwigh. Typically she's more known for techno paced cuts, but on this reversion she pushes things into 170 something. After a switch up from the excellent kosmische flexing Object Hours, we've a cut from third album era Hüsker Dü; Chicago's Ganser, with a cut from last year's album Animal Hospital, and a brand new track from the Ozric Tentacles new record, out today. Hear Bosnian folk from Semsa Suljakovic and the band Juzni Vetar (Southern Wind). All before we head back to the windy city for the Chicago blues of Hound Dog Taylor. There's early 90s boom bap from NYC's Positive K. Plus, the ever wonderful HAAi. And Global Communication's deep breaks remix of London house duo Dusky. Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul take us into their quirky bass enriched pop. That leads nicely into a recent(ish) epic cut from one of the GOATs, Hybrid. Then we relax, with British singer-songwriter Lapis, and the Swiss based African rhythm group Yalla Miku. All that to close on a previously unreleased mid 90s jungle cut from one of the OGs, Dillinja. Mx. [PREVIEW] Mornings With Mx 132 - William Orbit special

William Orbit worked with many artists throughout his career - Madonna. Kraftwerk, Nitzer Ebb, Beth Orton, Blur, All Saints, + Peter Gabriel are just a handful. Our episode this week is a special extended edition celebrating his music and work. Our show today is a special one, focusing on the music of Mark William Wainwright, the English producer and musician known professionally as William Orbit, who last month, July 23rd, died at the age of 69. Born in Shoreditch in December 1959, the oldest of 3 sons, to schoolteachers, Orbit has left an undeniable impact on music with a career that spanned 4 decades. You'll hear some of my favourites alongside just some of the wonderful music he wrote, produced, or performed. Obviously Madonna features, but there is so much more. It's bittersweet to pull together a show like this, for a loved artist. But Orbit's music and work will live on, as he left it with us to enjoy. Some of these tracks you'll know, some you'll discover, as I did. I hope you enjoy the show.
