I Lost My YouTube Channel - Over 5 Years Of Work!

I lost access to my YouTube channel as a result of cancelling Google’s Workspace subscription. I was sick of paying for subscriptions that I didn’t need and made the decision in August, that I was cancelling them. The result was months of pain trying to back everything up and move everything from the domain and email address that was attached as Google warned me I would lose everything.ChatGPT found what we thought was a loophole in the form of a free cloud identity to keep the YouTube channel. I was so excited and I thought it was safe…only to realise late last month that it missed one important detail. The important detail was that we had to have zero in storage. We had backed everything up BUT hadn’t thought to delete absolutely everything like the Google Drive files and the emails in Gmail. As a result when I cancelled the subscription, I was no longer allowed access to my own photos that it had been backing up that I didn’t know about and years of emails to delete them all from its server. This whole experience made me rethink how I’m building my online business moving forward. After spending five years building a channel with 123 subscribers, I suddenly found myself starting again. But this isn’t just about YouTube. It’s about how dependent we’ve become on social media and tech platforms, cloud-based software and monthly subscriptions to manage our businesses. They want us on the hook paying monthly so they have stable income. What happens when your account gets shut down? What happens when your CRM increases its prices? What happens when you lose access to years of contacts, conversations and relationships? In this video, I’m sharing what happened, what I’ve learned and the system I’m building to protect my business relationships and data. I’ll show you how I’m using a locally stored contact management system to: * Keep track of social media connections. * Organise leads and relationship pipelines. * Store important notes about conversations. * Track referrals, collaborations and potential affiliates. * Set follow-up reminders. * Save interesting posts for future engagement. * Create personalised video and voice messages. * Export and back up my information. I’m also challenging the subscription model. Why should running a small business mean paying for another monthly subscription every time we need a new tool? I’m building towards simpler systems, more control over my data and better relationship management. WANT TO SEE THE SOFTWARE? I’m hosting a live workshop this Friday where I’ll take you behind the scenes and show you how it works. Comment WORKSHOP or get in touch to find out more. If you’re a coach, consultant, service provider or small business owner, this conversation matters. Because followers are great. Email lists are useful. But relationships are the foundation of a sustainable business. Subscribe for more practical conversations about social selling, business systems, AI and building a business that doesn’t depend on constantly chasing the next platform. #SocialSelling #SmallBusiness #BusinessSystems Get full access to Business Builders Edge at bossfaithc.substack.com/subscribe

The Future Of AI & Our Pivot

In this audio only episode, we covered a lot of different topics - it was essentially 2 podcast episodes in one as Mel and I had a chat. * What Claude and AI watermarking is and what to do now that AI watermarking could mean lower reach in the social media algorithms * The AI race to create superintelligence and why it is extremely worrying as there is a concentration of powerful in a handful of companies whose telling themselves they are the good guys but who shown historically to not be and whose revenue and power is getting towards exceeding governments. * Plus how they are using distractions such immigration, cost of living etc to distract us so we are not focused on fighting against the fast advancement of AI and electing the leaders who will control those in control of AI * AI Safety, self-replication and the unintended consequences that are coming straight from the mouth of the guy who was the forecaster for chatGPT. * How social media weaponized our attention spans and how AI could weaponize connection * Why connection and communication skills are the most powerful as AI commoditises information and how I am focusing on improving them every single day over trying to just learn more “information”. After all what good is an transformational story without the skills to communicate it in a way that connects and transforms * Why you no longer have the pressure of being the “expert” and how that helps relieve the imposter syndrome pressure * What I am still using AI for to make my content, programs and offers better * At the end we talked about my 2 viral posts of the week and the marketing lesson that they enforced for me Get full access to Business Builders Edge at bossfaithc.substack.com/subscribe

AI Is Getting Smarter. So What Happens to Us?

This week, after spending hours untangling my accounts from a Google subscription, and after having a very interesting interaction with Claude support, and listening to an AI forecaster talk about where this technology is heading, I found myself asking a bunch of much bigger questions including if AI eventually has access to all the information, what makes YOU valuable for someone to buy from you? In this episode, I unpack the uncomfortable questions I've been thinking about and why I don't think the answer is to run away from AI. In this conversation, we explore: 🤖 What happens when AI becomes smarter than the smartest humans? 🛏️ Why Claude literally told me to go to bed—and why that made me question how much control we should give AI 😂 🧠 What an AI forecaster said about the speed at which AI development could happen ⚡ Why I think we're potentially looking at something very different from a gradual “AI takes one job at a time” scenario 💧 The enormous power and water requirements behind AI—and the bigger question of who regulates it 👀 Why I'm increasingly uncomfortable with the people currently controlling the most powerful AI systems 📚 Why information is becoming a commodity 💡 The implications for coaches, consultants, creators and course sellers 🎓 Why I think the traditional course model is going to have to evolve 🗣️ Why your voice, personality, perspective and lived experience may become more valuable—not less ❤️ Why human connection could become one of the biggest competitive advantages in an AI world 🎤 Why I believe live conversations and real-time interaction are going to matter more 🧩 How I'm using AI as an ideation and organisation tool without allowing it to replace my voice 💰 Why I think relationship-based selling becomes even more important as AI advances 🔄 Why we need to stop chasing every new AI model and get clear on what we actually need AI to do for us One question I want you to think about: If AI can give people all the information they need, what are you uniquely bringing to the table? Because maybe the future isn't about becoming better at producing information. Maybe it's about becoming better at creating transformation, connection and experiences. And honestly? I think that's a much more exciting future. 🎧Listen to the full conversation above and let me know what you think. I don't have all the answers. But I think this is a conversation we need to be having. Get full access to Business Builders Edge at bossfaithc.substack.com/subscribe

The Speaking Shift: From "High Value Expert" to Transformational Experiences

"Value" and Information used to convert to customers. Now it is not enough to get people to even show up. If you speak for a living whether on stages, on podcasts, on webinars, on masterclasses, your audience trusts you less than they used to. Not because you're worse. Because AI has made everyone suspicious of everything. In this episode I am sharing what I learned from showing up at a live event for speaker training, plus what I noticed after watching ten different live shows back to back to learn the small, specific things creators are doing to keep people in the room, build trust in an AI-skeptical audience, and convert without ever pretending to be "the expert."Side note: We also talk about how gurus have been manufacturing imposter syndrome to keep people buying. You'll learn: Why trust has hit an all-time low thanks to AI content and why showing up live (even just in audio) is the fastest way to rebuild it and increase conversions. The difference between teaching from expertise vs. teaching from experience, and why the second one converts better. 8 practical "transformational experience elements" other creators are using to emotionally connect to their audience to create raving fans, not just followers. Everything from environment and sound design to pivoting your content live based on who's in the room. Why "I don't compare, I prepare" changed how I think about presentation prep as someone who is still growing their public speaking skills. To get this weeks weekly free resource with exercise, message me her bossfaithc.substack.com Get full access to Business Builders Edge at bossfaithc.substack.com/subscribe

Why You're Not Inconsistent...You're Just Spread Too Thin

You’re not lazy. You’re not undisciplined. You’re overwhelmed. And overwhelmed people don’t have a consistency problem. They have a focus problem. Most entrepreneurs over 40 that I meet are beating themselves up for being inconsistent — because we’ve all been told that consistency is the key. But when I actually watch what they’re doing? They’re the hardest working people in the room. The problem isn’t them. It’s the lie we were sold. Build the offer. Build the funnel. Be on every platform. Create multiple income streams. Launch constantly. And do it all — alone, without a team, without a $30k monthly ad budget. That advice was built for people who are no longer doing it themselves. If you keep following it, you will burn out before your strategy ever gets a chance to work. This episode is about what to do instead. What You’ll Learn * Why you’re not inconsistent — you’re simply spread too thin (and how to tell the difference) * The “build it before you validate it” trap that kills most offers before launch * How to diagnose where your strategy is actually leaking — using real data, not emotion * The One Thing Framework: how to pick one focus and stay consistent for 90 days * Why promoting one offer with one name builds more trust and credibility than launching new things constantly * The invisible audience effect — what’s actually happening in the first 21 days of a new strategy * Why you can’t diagnose what’s broken until you’ve run it long enough to get real numbers Timestamps * 00:00 — You don’t have a consistency problem, you have a focus problem * 01:38 — The lie we were sold: build everything, be everywhere, launch constantly * 02:17 — Shiny object syndrome in practice: the build-before-validating trap * 05:34 — Why one offer with one name builds credibility in a trust recession * 07:35 — The invisible audience: what’s actually happening in the first 21 days * 09:16 — The 90-day diagnosis: how to find where your strategy is actually leaking * 10:27 — Why most people quit before they have enough data to know what’s working * 14:33 — Stop trying to be everywhere: the one platform, one offer framework * 15:28 — My three MITs for this 90-day run (and why I sold it before I built it) * 17:56 — Your turn: the exercise waiting for you inside Social Sellers Society Resources Mentioned * Social Sellers Society — free and paid access: www.socialsellers.com.au/joinsss Get full access to Business Builders Edge at bossfaithc.substack.com/subscribe
