Are You Building What Heaven Values?

We spend much of our lives building—careers, homes, savings, reputations, and even churches and ministries. There is nothing inherently wrong with building these things, but Jesus introduces a completely different measurement: Will what you are building matter where you are going? In this episode, we dive into Matthew 6:19–21 and Jesus' profound contrast between treasures on earth and treasures in Heaven. Jesus isn't asking us to reject our earthly responsibilities or possessions; He is challenging us not to confuse temporary value with eternal value. Join us as Pastor Florence unpacks what true Kingdom stewardship looks like: Your Home: You can’t take your house with you, but the prayers prayed inside it can influence generations. Your Career: You can’t take your job with you, but treating people with dignity while you work creates a lasting footprint. Your Wealth: You can’t take your money with you, but you can send it ahead by using it to serve others and advance work that matters beyond yourself. Your Purpose in Every Season: A powerful challenge to older believers—never confuse retirement from employment with retirement from your God-given purpose. Your next great Kingdom investment may not be a program or a project. It may have a name. Key Takeaway Big Idea: Earth measures what we accumulate. Heaven examines what we did with what God entrusted to us. This Week's Kingdom Assignment Choose one person this week and make one intentional eternal investment in them. It doesn't have to be complicated—call them, visit them, pray with them, mentor them, forgive them, or share your testimony and the hope you have in Christ. One person. One investment. One week. Scripture Reference Matthew 6:19–21 — "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven..." If this episode challenged or encouraged you, please leave a review, subscribe, and share it with a friend who needs this reminder today!

    When Worship Loses Its Purpose

What happens when we keep doing church but forget why we are doing it? In Episode 10 of Heaven’s Payroll, Pastor Keither Florence Sr. walks through Luke 19:45–48 and the moment Jesus entered the Temple and began turning things over. This passage is often reduced to a lesson about buying and selling in church. But there is something deeper happening: The Temple was still open. People were still coming. Religious activity was still happening. But something created to help people encounter God had slowly moved away from its purpose. Jesus did not cleanse the Temple because He hated it. He cleansed it because He cared about what it was supposed to be. That gives us a question worth asking today: Has anything in my life become something God never intended it to be? Pastor Florence connects this lesson to worship, church traditions, service, retirement, obedience, ministry, stewardship, and the quiet ways believers can lose sight of purpose without ever leaving the church. This episode is especially for the person who has served God for years and may be asking, “What does faithfulness look like in this season of my life?” Primary Scripture: Luke 19:45–48 In this episode: Why Jesus cleansed the Temple What “My house shall be a house of prayer” really means How good things can move into the wrong place Why religious activity is not always the same as faithfulness The difference between your role and your purpose Why retirement does not mean retirement from Kingdom work How to recognize when worship has become routine What Jesus may want to restore instead of remove A practical Kingdom Assignment for the week Heaven’s Payroll is a weekly conversation with Pastor Keither Florence Sr. about stewardship, faithfulness, Kingdom work, and living with eternity in view. Remember... God pays the highest wages for labor.
