  1. Episode 1

Noli Me Tangere: The Social Cancer Translator's Introduction, part 1

In which the historical narrative unfolds the rise and eventual stagnation of religious orders in the Philippines, tracing their early heroic missionary work and gradual descent into corruption and dominion over native life. Amidst the slow disintegration of this system, subtle yet profound shifts—brought on by education, commerce, and political upheaval—whisper of unrest and the stirring desire for change among the island’s people.

  2. Episode 2

Noli Me Tangere: The Social Cancer Translator's Introduction, part 2

In which a reflective portrait is painted of the Philippines under the heavy hand of ecclesiastical dominion, tracing the early life and noble education of a young man whose gentle spirit and keen intellect would stir the slumbering consciousness of his countrymen. Through accounts of his scholarly pursuits and measured ideals, the delicate interplay of hope and repression is unveiled, hinting softly at the gathering shadows over his native land.

  3. Episode 3

Noli Me Tangere: The Social Cancer Translator's Introduction, part 3

In which the fervent spirit of youthful rebellion ignites beneath the shadows of a repressive regime, as secret societies weave their mystic oaths and designs for liberty amid the tragic clash of loyalty and upheaval. Meanwhile, the solitary figure of Rizal endures the cruel tides of suspicion and judgment, his reasoned pleas for peaceful reform drowned by the deafening cries for vengeance and misguided revolt.

  4. Episode 4

Noli Me Tangere: The Social Cancer Translator's Introduction, part 4

In which the sombre stillness of a tropical dawn frames the solemn execution of a solitary Filipino, staged under the wary gaze of colonial powers and witnessed by a city caught between reverence and revelry. The unfolding events reveal the tragic unfolding of a fractured nation, marked by conflicting passions and the birth-pangs of change that ripple through both leader and people alike.

  5. Episode 5

Noli Me Tangere: The Social Cancer Chapter 1 - A Social Gathering

In which a grand dinner at Capitan Tiago’s home serves as a microcosm of Manila’s social milieu, revealing the peculiar decorum and subtle tensions among its assembled guests. Amongst lively conversations and spirited disputes, the interplay of clergy, officials, and townsfolk reflects the complex and often discordant relations that underpin the community.

  6. Episode 6

Noli Me Tangere: The Social Cancer Chapter 2 - Crisostomo Ibarra

In which a young man, recently returned from foreign lands and clad in mourning, presents himself to his countrymen and encounters both warm greetings and cold stares at a social gathering. Through delicate conversation and observant introductions, the subtle tensions and unspoken histories of his homeland begin to reveal themselves amidst the festive assembly.

  7. Episode 7

Noli Me Tangere: The Social Cancer Chapter 3 - The Dinner

In which a convivial assembly of varied personages convenes around a sumptuous repast, where delicate social graces mingle uneasily with undercurrents of faction and wit, revealing the subtle hierarchies and familiar frictions that govern their intercourse. The discourse turns to distant lands and cherished ideals, as the young visitor reflects upon foreign liberties and local prejudices, while the guests observe with mingled amusement and disdain the peculiarities of their own convivial customs.

  8. Episode 8

Noli Me Tangere: The Social Cancer Chapter 4 - Heretic and Filibuster

In which the young Ibarra returns to the unchanging streets of Manila only to learn from an old lieutenant the tragic and unjust fate of his esteemed father, a man beset by envy and false accusations in a land where honour is oft insufficient to protect integrity. As the tale unfolds amid the shadowed alleys and quiet plazas, the peculiar trials of justice and morality in this distant colony reveal themselves with a somber clarity.
