A year ago, the Sacred City of Aethria burned. Now, the Emberlands are using the tragedy to seize the realm, targeting the Moorian nomads as their scapegoat. Laíla wants to protect them, but her own body is her greatest enemy: her skin becomes flammable when her emotions run high, a volatile affliction she can neither understand nor contain. With the Emberish seizing more land and Aethria's destroyer still in the wind, Laíla must go on the run to avoid capture as the realm comes dangerously close to war.
