WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Terry's first team captain, Tom Walsh. Terry catches up with his first-ever team captain, Tom Walsh, a Brown University graduate and Anheuser-Busch alum, to talk about playing for Terry that first year and the lessons Walsh learned and kept with him for all these years. Tom and Terry reminisce about a key goalie save dating back 52 years that both remember vividly. It was a non-goal references in our earlier interview with US Soccer's Dan Flynn, who was on the wining side to Walsh's team. Tom talks about his career at A-B, and his soccer career at Brown University, an Ivy League School, and later in the NASL with the old Boston Minute Men. One of the key ingredients in the success of the Brown men’s soccer squads of 1970’s was Tom Walsh, a defender for the Bears from 1972 to 1975. In Walsh’s four seasons at Brown, the Bears compiled a record of 49-14-3 and won the Ivy League Championship three times. Brown also made an NCAA appearance all four years of Walsh’s career, taking third place his senior year. As a junior, Walsh garnered second-team All-Ivy honors and All-New England honorable mention recognition. At the end of his senior year, Walsh was rewarded with first team All-America honors after leading the Bears to a 12-3-2 overall record. Walsh was also a two-time recipient of the Class of 1937 Trophy given annually to the Brown men’s soccer player who contributes the most to the program. Tom is employed by Anheuser-Busch, Inc. in West Virginia.
