What Was the ACTUAL Point of Circumcision?

Circumcision was established by God to identify specific earthly promises to Abraham and his descendants and to the nation that would come from him and through which the Messiah would come. Specifically, it was a sign that Abraham would be the father of many nations, and that through Israel, Jesus the Christ, the seed, would be born. Circumcision also pointed toward a greater spiritual reality in that while physical circumcision could not achieve any real constraint of sin and caused God to have no obligation to save anyone, circumcision of the heart was only for the sons of God. But as is often the case with the earthly types that God institutes, because of sin, physical circumcision is often taught to have direct spiritual significance. In the New Testament, there were Jews who tried to tie circumcision directly to salvation to the point where Peter was caught up in their lies and had to be publicly rebuked by Paul. This is also a distinct disagreement between Presbyterians and Reformed Baptists where Presbyterians associate circumcision with baptism and by implication apply the promises of the baptism of Jesus Christ to unbelieving children and from it a form of belonging or covenant membership within the church. We believe that this Presbyterian view of the relationship between circumcision and baptism is contrary to scripture. (We are even more opposed to the views of circumcision and baptism that lead to paedocommunion and to the teachings called Federal Vision)Please join us as we discuss the nature of circumcision and the purposes to which God appointed it. 26-10-11 Meet Jesus Christ

Meet Jesus Christ Faith Debate: Sunday, October 11th, 2026 (10/18/26 on 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland) A man says he met a woman named Christina in 2023 while he was sitting on a front porch swing. She walked across the lawn carrying an iPad, like many salespeople do. The young lady sat in front of this man and his wife and began speaking about history, the Bible, and the church. Then she added that she knew the man was born with water on the brain, which is true. This seemed very supernatural, and so tears filled the couple's eyes as they contemplated what they were experiencing. This angelic-type presence didn't say how she knew the medical information; she simply looked up at the sky and smiled, telling the man three times, "You don't get it". Then she turned, and using her iPad brought a cool breeze from the north that moved through the treetops in a rotation specifically around the house and its street. Finally, she looked the man in the eyes and told him that she was sent by God with a message: "You've been kept alive to protect innocent people from evil". What should a Christian think about such a happening? Some quickly dismiss it as a lie. But if the story is real, and not a fabrication, what then? The panel continues to consider all of this in part 4 of a 4 of a unique series. Find The Faith Debate at wfmd.com, ChristianPodcastCommunity.org, & podcast platforms like SermonAudio & Odysee.
