    The Jetstream Podcast S21 Ep16 – Talkin About Turf

    Furns (@JetstreamNewy) & Andy (@AJLane1) review SemiFinal Leg2 @NewcastleJetsFC vs @SydneyFC #NEWvSYD #NTUA #VamosElJerkos  ALM Results: Newcastle United Jets FC 1 – Sydney FC 1  (Aggregate 2-2) Sydney FC Win 4-2 on penalties In this episode Furns is joined by Andy to review the final game of the Jets A-League season, going out on penalties to Sydney FC. Discussion started with talking over the massive crowd for this 2nd Semi Final clash, which ended up as our 2nd largest ever Jets A-League fixture. We dont like talking about refs, but we had to talk about the ref. Was he as bad as social media and the people who attended made out or was it not as unbalanced as it seemed to be? Then we moved on to talking over the match itself, starting lineups with Lachie Rose returning to start and how the styles of play of the teams differed and how it definitely made for an exciting game. We went in depth on the highlights, talking over the flashpoints of the game and even threw in a few stats. We discussed the opposition throughout, and how their style form the 1 st leg continued with pressing us while we had the ball, trying to get turnovers for counter attacks. Talk covered player performances on both sides, as well as the goals. The sides couldnt be separated at full time and we reviewed the penalty shootout. Lastly, we finished the episode by talking over some crowd trouble at the game as well as the news that Heidelberg has been adjudged to be ineligible by the AFC to compete in ACL2. We started with the derby in the final round of the regular season, since we’ve been off a few weeks. Firstly, it was a massive crowd for the Anzac Day clash and it began with a respectful and impeccably observed pregame ceremony to honour our military past and present. Then we moved on to talking over the match itself, starting lineups with a significant player absent and how that didnt seem to affect the performance on the day . We briefly touched on the elimination finals which took place and the winners facing the top two teams last weekend with Sydney FC being our opponent. Furns talked over the New Allianz Stadium, was it worth $800mil? Then we talked a little about the opposition, and how they didnt end up being defensive at all, bringing the game to us. We discussed player performances on both sides, as well as the goals. Lastly, we finished the episode by previewing the 2nd leg of the semi final at home with what is expected to almost be a full house. We talked over possible rotation in the lineups and an expectation we would perform better than we did in the 1st game. We started with the games since we’ve been off. First up was an away loss to Macarthur before home and away draws against Adelaide and Victory. We talked over our rotation due to injuries, returns, starting lineups and how that all affected the performances compared t the run of games with no changes. We then talked in more depth on the away draw to Victory discussing the stats and significant events and the goals as we watched the highlights of the game. Then we talked a little about the opposition, and how they didnt miss Juan Mata as much as we thought they might. We finished the game with some other player performances and our player of the match. After that we discussed the league ladder, and the great result of CCM winning their game against Auckland which handed us the Premiers Plate. We talked over what it means.  Lastly, we finished the episode by deciding whether going full strength in the Derby will be worth it or not or does this game not matter? We talked over possible rotation in the lineups and other news. We finished off by giving our predictions for the rest of the fixtures in the final regular round of the season.
