    Killer Elite (2011)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris watch out for The Feather Men and discuss 2011's Killer Elite, which turned 15 this week. Jason Statham stars as Danny Bryce, a mercenary/assassin in the 1980s who hits his limit and retires to Australia.  When his mentor Hunter (Robert De Niro) is kidnapped by a disgraced Sheikh (Rodney Afif) and forces Danny to kill the three SAS soldiers who killed his sons during the Dhofar Rebellion, making them look like accidents and filming confessions before they die, he reunites with his team, Davies (Dominic Purcell) and Meier (Aden Young), and plots and executes the hits, which draws the attention of a secret society of former SAS soldiers, The Feather Men, who dispatch Spike Logan (Clive Owen) to stop the attacks.  Zach and Chris discuss the similarities to Statham's The Mechanic (which came out the same year), Statham fighting while tied to a chair, how much travel Statham is doing, the author of the book the movie is based on being a character in the movie, and more.     Everything Action Commentary: Masterminds (1997)

    For the latest Everything Action Commentary, Zach and Chris are in back-to-school mode with the 1997 movie Masterminds. Vincent Kartheiser stars as Oswald "Ozzie" Perkins, a hacker expelled from private school for his various activities.  Forced to bring his stepsister to school after getting caught trying to download an illegal copy of Scream 2, Ozzie gets caught inside when a group of armed criminals, posing as security consultants, take over the school.  Led by Rafe Bentley (Patrick Stewart), the group holds the children of the 10 richest parents hostage, demanding millions in exchange for their release.  Ozzie must use his wits and skills to outsmart the criminals and rescue his stepsister and the other kids. While watching the movie, Zach and Chris discuss the absurd "hacking" sequence that opens the movie, the movie's constant assurances that no one is being killed, the plot beats similar to Die Hard, the oddly complicated corporate-takeover sideplot, and more.     Resident Evil (2002)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris try to avoid getting infected by the T-Virus and discuss 2002's Resident Evil as Zach Cregger's spin on the franchise hits theaters. Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Resident Evil stars Milla Jovovich as the amnesiac Umbrella operative Alice.  When an outbreak of the T-Virus infects The Hive, the facility's AI, The Red Queen (Michaela Dicker), locks it down and kills everyone inside.  Umbrella dispatches a special ops team to take the Red Queen offline, believing she's gone haywire, but they soon learn the virus turned everyone in the complex into zombies, and they're fighting for their lives to escape.  Zach and Chris discuss how Umbrella didn't know that a virus was unleashed in their secret lab, why part of the security protocol is drugging your guards protecting the secret entrance, the ridiculous amount of bites that Michelle Rodriguez takes, the iconic laser sequence, and more.     Avenging Force (1986)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris hunt down 1986's Avenging Force for its 40th anniversary. Michael Dudikoff stars as Matt Hunter, a former Secret Service agent who finds himself up against a far-right extremist group known as The Pentangle.  Hunting humans for sport, The Pentangle targets Matt's friend Larry Richards (Steve James), who is running for Senate, and ultimately kidnaps Matt's sister Sarah (Allison Gereighty) to force Matt to participate in one of their hunts.  Zach and Chris discuss whether The Pentangle looked to GI Joe for their hunting outfits, whether this is a younger version of Matt Hunter from Invasion USA, the movie's ruthless killing of main characters, how horrible shooting in the middle of a swamp must have been, and more.     Universal Soldier (1992)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris make sure they have plenty of ice on hand to discuss 1992's Universal Soldier as a new group of government super soldiers hit theaters in Onslaught. Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren co-star as Luc Devereux and Andrew Scott.  In Vietnam, Scott goes psychotic and slaughters his squad and civilians, and he and Devereux kill each other after a fight.  The men are put on ice and resurrected as Universal Soldiers, genetically modified super soldiers who conduct counter-terrorism operations.  When a reporter, Veronica Roberts (Ally Walker), gets caught trying to photograph evidence in a restricted area, her cameraman is killed by Scott, and Devereux's memories start to come back, causing him to rescue Veronica and go on the run with her while the rest of the unit tracks them to keep the details of the project classified at any cost.  Zach and Chris talk about the seemingly glaring weaknes of the UniSols constantly overheating, Jerry Orbach's lack of any explanation of how he created the UniSols, the massive destruction of mom and pop businesses, Dolph's love of grenades and more.     Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, with Coyote vs. Acme finally hitting theaters, Zach and Chris discuss another Looney Tunes movie, 2003's Looney Tunes: Back in Action. Brendan Fraser stars as DJ Drake, the son of actor Damian Drake (Timothy Dalton), who plays a spy in movies and turns out to be a secret agent in real life as well.  Captured by the sinister CEO of ACME, Mr. Chairman (Steve Martin), DJ is tasked with finding the legendary "Blue Monkey" diamond that has the power to turn people into monkeys.  DJ has the recently fired Daffy Duck (Joe Alaskey) tagging along, and the pair are followed by Warner Bros. executive Kate Houghton (Jenna Elfman) and Bugs Bunny (Alaskey), who want Daffy to return to their in-production movie.  Zach and Chris try to figure out what Steve Martin is doing in his villain role, Yosemite Sam's awesome Las Vegas casino, the alien cameos in Area 52, and whether it would have been better as more of a Hollywood satire instead of a spy/action movie parody.     Everything Action Commentary: Carnosaur (1993)

    For the latest Everything Action Commentary, with two dinosaur-based movies in theaters this past month, The End of Oak Street and Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, Zach and Chris watched another prehistoric favorite, 1993's Carnosaur. Produced by Roger Corman and hustled quickly into theaters to come out before Jurassic Park, Carnosaur stars Diane Ladd as mad scientist Dr. Jane Tiptree.  She is fed up with humanity and has engineered a way for dinosaurs to return to repopulate the Earth after humans are eliminated by a lethal virus.  Alcoholic night watchman Doc Smith (Raphael Sbarge) gets caught up in her scheme when deadly dinosaurs start killing people near the quarry he protects.  While watching the movie, Zach and Chris discuss how Diane Ladd is delivering a feature-length villain monologue, the bizarre DARPA Bond villain set, whether Doc is the worst night watchman in history, the constantly shifting size of the dinosaur puppets, and more.     A Working Man (2025)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris are a couple of working stiffs discussing 2025's A Working Man as a new Jason Statham movie, Mutiny, hits theaters. Statham stars as Levon Cade, a former Royal Marine commando who is trying to live a quiet life in Chicago as a construction foreman.  When his boss's daughter Jenny (Arianna Rivas) is kidnapped, Levon has to dust off his old skills and work his way up the chain of a human trafficking ring to rescue Jenny and bring her home.  Zach and Chris discuss how often Levon has to break up fights at the construction site, his side mission of pretending to be a meth distributor, the absurd bad-guy fashion, the distractingly gigantic moon in the third act, and more.
