    Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, with Coyote vs. Acme finally hitting theaters, Zach and Chris discuss another Looney Tunes movie, 2003's Looney Tunes: Back in Action. Brendan Fraser stars as DJ Drake, the son of actor Damian Drake (Timothy Dalton), who plays a spy in movies and turns out to be a secret agent in real life as well.  Captured by the sinister CEO of ACME, Mr. Chairman (Steve Martin), DJ is tasked with finding the legendary "Blue Monkey" diamond that has the power to turn people into monkeys.  DJ has the recently fired Daffy Duck (Joe Alaskey) tagging along, and the pair are followed by Warner Bros. executive Kate Houghton (Jenna Elfman) and Bugs Bunny (Alaskey), who want Daffy to return to their in-production movie.  Zach and Chris try to figure out what Steve Martin is doing in his villain role, Yosemite Sam's awesome Las Vegas casino, the alien cameos in Area 52, and whether it would have been better as more of a Hollywood satire instead of a spy/action movie parody.     Everything Action Commentary: Carnosaur (1993)

    For the latest Everything Action Commentary, with two dinosaur-based movies in theaters this past month, The End of Oak Street and Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, Zach and Chris watched another prehistoric favorite, 1993's Carnosaur. Produced by Roger Corman and hustled quickly into theaters to come out before Jurassic Park, Carnosaur stars Diane Ladd as mad scientist Dr. Jane Tiptree.  She is fed up with humanity and has engineered a way for dinosaurs to return to repopulate the Earth after humans are eliminated by a lethal virus.  Alcoholic night watchman Doc Smith (Raphael Sbarge) gets caught up in her scheme when deadly dinosaurs start killing people near the quarry he protects.  While watching the movie, Zach and Chris discuss how Diane Ladd is delivering a feature-length villain monologue, the bizarre DARPA Bond villain set, whether Doc is the worst night watchman in history, the constantly shifting size of the dinosaur puppets, and more.     A Working Man (2025)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris are a couple of working stiffs discussing 2025's A Working Man as a new Jason Statham movie, Mutiny, hits theaters. Statham stars as Levon Cade, a former Royal Marine commando who is trying to live a quiet life in Chicago as a construction foreman.  When his boss's daughter Jenny (Arianna Rivas) is kidnapped, Levon has to dust off his old skills and work his way up the chain of a human trafficking ring to rescue Jenny and bring her home.  Zach and Chris discuss how often Levon has to break up fights at the construction site, his side mission of pretending to be a meth distributor, the absurd bad-guy fashion, the distractingly gigantic moon in the third act, and more.     The Fly (1986)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris enter the telepods and discuss 1986's The Fly, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Jeff Goldblum stars as Seth Brundle, an eccentric but brilliant scientist who has been working on creating a way to teleport matter between "telepods".  When he impulsively decides to test transporting organic matter on himself, he doesn't realize that a fly has flown into his pod, fusing their DNA and causing Seth to begin a horrifying transformation.  Zach and Chris discuss the incredible special effects and makeup, other potential issues with the pods combining matter, whether Seth could have monetized his computer system, the late face turn of Stathis (John Getz), and more.     The Purge: Anarchy (2014)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris have the urge to Purge and discuss 2014's The Purge: Anarchy as the romantic comedy version of the concept, One Night Only, hits theaters. The second film in the franchise, The Purge: Anarchy takes place during the 2023 Purge as Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) gets ready to hunt down the man who killed his son but gets sidetracked rescuing several characters caught on the streets during the chaos; estranged couple Liz (Kiele Sanchez) and Shane (Zach Gilford) and single mom Eva (Carmen Ejogo) and her daughter Cali (Zoë Soul).  The group makes their way through downtown Los Angeles, dodging psychotic Purgers and government kill squads.  Zach and Chris discuss how this movie realized the full potential of the concept set up in 2013's The Purge, how Leo is basically The Punisher, why anyone would choose a melee weapon for The Purge, the surprisingly solid USA TV series, and more.     Spider-Man 2 (2004)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris web-swing back to 2004 to discuss Spider-Man 2 as a new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, hits theaters. Tobey Maguire returned as Peter Parker, who is struggling in his personal life while continuing to protect New York City as Spider-Man.  When Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), one of Peter's science heroes, has a catastrophic accident trying to stabilize a fusion power reactor he's designed, he has four mechanical tentacles fused to his body, and their AI influence convinces him to try the experiment again, only bigger and more dangerous.  Zach and Chris discuss all the famous faces who pop up in tiny roles, the comic origins of Doc Ock, the additions to Spider-Man 2.1, the iconic subway sequence, and more.     Everything Action Commentary: Demons (1985)

    For the latest Everything Action Commentary, inspired by this month's Evil Dead Burn, Zach and Chris enter the cursed movie theater of the 1985 Italian cult classic, Demons. Directed by Lamberto Bava and produced by Dario Argento, Demons follows a group of moviegoers attending a mysterious free screening of a horror movie.  When the horror spills off the screen and into real life, the group tries to survive and avoid being possessed by evil demons.  While watching the movie, Zach and Chris discuss the surprising leadership abilities of the pimp Tony (Bobby Rhodes), the rocking licensed soundtrack, the insane practical effects, why we keep cutting back to a group of cokeheads just driving around West Germany, and more.     The Fifth Element (1997)

    This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris make sure they have their Multipass and discuss Luc Besson's 1997 classic The Fifth Element, which is back in theaters on July 26th and 27th. Starring Bruce Willis as former special forces soldier turned taxi driver Korben Dallas, the literal savior of the universe falls into the back of his cab in the form of Leeloo (Milla Jovovich).  The mystical "Fifth Element", Leeloo is a perfect being and the only weapon that can defeat pure evil that is heading toward Earth in the form of a massive, burning planet.  Working on behalf of that evil is ruthless industrialist Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg (Gary Oldman), who is looking to prevent Leeloo from acquiring four powerful stones that represent the classical elements and are part of the ritual that allows her to unleash her power.  Zach and Chris discuss whether this is Luc Besson's best movie, the incredible production design, Ruby Rhod (Chris Tucker) storming into the movie like a tornado, the final action sequence feeling like a mini Die Hard, and more.
