The Terrible Podcast – Jets Preseason Game Recap, Young QB Play, Roman Wilson Concern & More

August 22, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 12 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Saturday morning show, Ross McCorkle sits in for Alex Kozora and we start things off by talking loosely about the Pittsburgh Steelers preseason loss to the New York Jets Friday night. Ross and I go over the long list of players that sat out the Steelers second preseason game and why. Ross and I then start getting into our deeper dive of Pittsburgh's shutout loss to the Jets on Friday night and we begin with going over the play of the offensive line and the positional rotations that we both observed. We discuss how Dylan Cook now appears to be the easy choice to be Steelers Week 1 starting right tackle on the heels of have poor Broderick Jones played against the Jets. Obviously, Ross and I don't wait too long to get to the play of the two quarterbacks Friday night, Will Howard and Drew Allar. We go over the two costly interceptions that Howard threw against the Jets and how WR Roman Wilson certainly seemed to play a role in both of them. As part of us discussing those two interceptions, Ross and I go over what HC Mike McCarthy and Howard each had to say about those two turnovers during their respective postgame press conferences. Ross and I also make sure to discuss the play of Allar during the second half of the Friday night game and how one big play that he made really stood out. Are the Steelers now guaranteed to keep all four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster at this point? Will the Steelers allow Allar to start the preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills? Will Allar and Howard once again be the only two quarterbacks to play against the Bills? Ross and I attempt to answerer all of those questions midway through this show. Should the team and fans be concerned about Wilson's play at wide receiver through two preseason games? Ross and I both think so. We also discuss the possibility of Wilson or rookie WR Germie Bernard being on the inactive list to open the 2026 regular season. After discussing all of the position groups on offensive from the Friday night game, Ross and I turn our attention to the play on the defensive side of the football. We go through all of the position groups on that side of the football and note the players we thought represented themselves well in that preseason contest. After briefly talking about the special teams play from Friday night, Ross and I talk about the latest report concerning Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. when it comes to his ongoing contract extension talks with the team. This 87-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Terrible Podcast – Joey Porter Jr. Trade Plausibility, Jets Game Preview, 4 QBs Talk, 53-Man Roster Predictions & More

August 21, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 11 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning show Alex Kozora and I start by talking about the likelihood of the Pittsburgh Steelers trading CB Joey Porter Jr. before the season starts on the heels of the Thursday night report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz. We go over the overall plausibility of Porter being traded and the several boxes that would need to be checked before the Steelers even remotely considered dealing him to another team. Will the Steelers ultimately get a contract extension with Porter done prior to the start of the regular season? What if they don't and what if they also decide not to trade him because of that? Alex and I attempt to go down that discussion path early in this show. The Steelers will play their second preseason game Friday night against the New York Jets so ahead of that, Alex and I give our full preview of that contest and that includes several players and things we will be watching for this evening. Alex goes over some specific things that fans should be looking for Friday night when it comes to the two young quarterbacks, Will Howard and Drew Allar. Will the Steelers ultimately keep four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster to start the regular season and is Mason Rudolph guaranteed to be one of at least three kept? How much of what Steelers HC Mike McCarthy said on Wednesday about Rudolph really matters as the final roster decision date creeps closer? Alex and I attempt to answer those questions, and we also look at a few times in recent history that NFL teams have kept four quarterbacks to open a regular season. Included in that historical four-quarterback lookback, Alex and I go over the last two times the Steelers opened a regular season with four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster. Ahead of Friday night's preseason game, Alex and I use the last part of this episode to compare and contrast our most recent 53-man roster predictions for the Steelers. While we only differ in two players overall, the quarterback group remains a huge part of our differences. We explain our decisions as part of predictions. This 113-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we close this show out by answering a few emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. The Terrible Podcast – Benton Contract Breakdown, McCarthy Reveals QB Plan, Kozora's QB Camp Grades & More

August 19, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 10 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning show, that was Alex Kozora and I start by talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers new contract extension they got completed with DT Keeanu Benton on the heels of the finer details now being known. We discuss the cash flow of Benton's deal through the 2026 and 2027 seasons and little fully guaranteed money is included. While Benton now officially has a new money average that equals that of DT Cameron Heyward, we explain how Heyward will earn much more in cash over the course of the next two seasons. We also go on to speculate why Benton accepted such a team-friendly contract as opposed to betting on himself in 2026. Alex and I go over where the Steelers now sit in real-time salary cap-wise with the Benton extension numbers now known. That conversation continues into the work the Steelers still likely need to do before the 2026 regular season gets underway. After talking about the Benton contract in-depth, Alex and I go over the Steelers plan at quarterback for their second preseason game against the New York Jets on Friday night. HC Mike McCarthy announced on Wednesday morning that Will Howard and Drew Allar will be the only quarterbacks to play against the Jets so we go over that decision and what it may or may not mean when it comes the future of QB Mason Rudolph. On the heels of Alex releasing his quarterback grades for training camp, we make sure to highlight those midway through this show. While we plan to do a more detailed preview of the Friday night preseason game against the Jets during the next podcast episode, Alex and I reveal some of the early things we look forward to seeing in that next exhibition contest. We go over where OT Broderick Jones might play Friday night and if OL Brock Hoffman might see the second-team snaps at center in that contest. This 91-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we close this show out by answering a few emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.
