Best Downton podcast

Best out there. Can’t wait to hear your take on the movie. Honestly I’d probably listen to you rewatch it all again. Whenevs!

Shhh, you’re hurting my ears

They give you a warning this is to be “humorous” and discourage “shrewd” listeners. I’m far from shrewd. I can certainly handle a little fun at a fictional character’s expense. With that said, I listened and I listened in hopes it was just a rocky start. It didn’t get better. I finally skipped to the last one to hear the review of the movie to see if after a few years experience it got better. It didn’t. In fact, it must be tiresome to loathe yourself so much. The hate for white women was intense. It even made my biracial son uncomfortable when he listened. I can’t imagine looking in the mirror each morning with so much hate. The shrieking into the mic, the “humor” wasn’t funny. I just couldn’t continue. This is listed for “fans” of Downtown Abbey. There’s a difference between poking a little fun at Robert’s continuous bankruptcy scares, Mary’s b!tchy tone, Edith’s annoying whining, et cetra and using the show as a reason to spend an 1.5hr ranting about how disgusting white people of any social status were and are. This might have been better without Kelly and without all the straight, white shaming...

Meh

I started listening way after DA ended because I wanted a companion podcast for my rewatch of the series before I saw the movie. I had high hopes due to the long running time of the episodes because I thought it would include some cool facts I didn’t know about the time period or the filming of the show. I’m still going to try to power through in hopes that it improves, but right now I’m pretty unimpressed. There are some interesting tidbits for sure, but way more loud laughing, random uninteresting side conversations, and low brow humor about people being ugly (I mean come on, it wasn’t funny in third grade to literally make fun of someone’s face and it’s not funny now). The hosts don’t seem to like the show, which is weird because this podcast is advertised as being designed for fans of the show. Maybe it’ll get better, right now it’s meh.
