The End of the World 1: Great Tribulation

    – Daniel anticipates unparalleled distress, deliverance, and resurrection. (Daniel 12:1–3) – Jesus warns of great tribulation and calls his followers to endurance: “he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13, KJV) – The abomination of desolation and the revealing of lawless opposition signal the unfolding crisis, without establishing its exact starting date. (Matthew 24:15–21; 2 Thessalonians 2:1–8) – Believers in Christ share Abraham’s promises and are grafted in, while Israel’s identity remains significant. (Galatians 3:29; Romans 11:17–29) – Revelation describes war, scarcity, persecution, and pressure to compromise worship. God calls his people to remain faithful. (Revelation 6; 13–14) – The seals, trumpets, and bowls reveal judgment, while the Lamb shepherds those coming out of great tribulation. (Revelation 6–9; 16; 7:14–17) – Christ’s appearing brings deliverance and resurrection hope: “so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17, KJV; 2 Thessalonians 1:7) – God promises a renewed creation: “Behold, I make all things new.” (Revelation 21:5, KJV) – Our response: waiting expectantly, watching and praying, working enthusiastically, and worshiping wholeheartedly. – God and the Lamb are worthy of praise. We worship now by faith, all to the glory of God the Father. (Revelation 4:11; 5:12–13; Philippians 2:11) The post The End of the World 1: Great Tribulation first appeared on Living Hope.

The Gospel 10: Die in Christ to Experience Resurrection

Living Hope,Community Church,Sunday service,Bible,Yahewh,God,Jesus, scripture,Gospel, resurrection, made new,Romans Christian believers share in Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, which sets them free from the power of sin. But following Jesus requires giving up our old, selfish ways, much like a seed that must die to grow and produce fruit. Because sin is no longer our master, we can now live a brand-new life dedicated to God and have the hope of resurrection life in the age to come. Romans 6:1–4 Through our union with Christ, we share in his death. But we also share in his resurrection from the dead, so that we can walk in a completely new way of life. John 12:24–25 Jesus compares the life of being his disciple to a seed that must fall into the ground and die before it can grow and produce fruit. Romans 6:5–7 The promise we have is that since we have been united with Christ in his death, we will also share in his resurrected life. Our old self was crucified with him on the cross so that sin would no longer rule over us. Matthew 16:24–25 Following Jesus requires self-denial, taking up our cross, and surrendering our right to live our own way and for ourselves. Romans 6:8–11 Because Christ was raised from the dead and will never die again, we will one day also live with him. Galatians 2:20 The Christian life is not centered on the old self; our new life is to be lived by trusting in the Son of God who loved us and gave himself for us. Romans 6:12–14 Because sin is no longer our master, we should not allow it to rule our bodies or direct our choices. Instead, we are to offer ourselves to God as people who have been brought from death to life—free from the tyranny and dominion of sin. The Gospel 9: Follow Christ and Experience Transformation

Jesus’s teachings are not merely suggestions for success, but the very words of God that will enable you to live a better life. Learning Jesus’s teachings and imitating his example will transform your life. Deuteronomy 18:18 Moses prophesied that God would raise up another prophet like him. John 1:19-21; 6:14; 7:37-38, 40  John the Baptist denied that he was “the prophet.” People wondered if Jesus was the prophet. Over time, some came to believe that he was. John 8:25-29; 12:44-50 Jesus claimed to speak as the Father instructed him and do what was pleasing to him. Thus, Jesus not only claimed to be “the prophet” in word, but also in deed. In fact, Jesus never sinned (2 Cor 5:21; Heb 4:15; 1 Pet 2:22; 1 John 3:5). Some Teachings of Jesus Matthew 6:12-15; 18:21-35 Forgive those who have harmed you Matthew 5:23-24, 43-48 Love your enemies; reconcile with those who are angry at you Acts 20:35 It is more blessed to give than to receive Matthew 15:36; 26:27; John 6:23; 11:41 Practice gratitude Mark 12:31; John 13:34-35 Love one another as Jesus loved the disciples Matthew 6:10-24; Luke 6:15-21 Don’t live for your possessions Matthew 23:12 Humble yourself; don’t exalt yourself John 4:34; 6:38; Matthew 6:33; 7:21 Your purpose is to do God’s will Following Christ will produce transformation in your life, leading to human flourishing.
