Accidental Tech Podcast

Thank you for holding Apple to account and not just being another blindly loyal fan. I have become so disenchanted with the way Apple keeps cowering to politics. First with them mislabeling the Gulf of Mexico on the Map, and then worsening when the CEO personally gave a 24k gold participation trophy to the tyrant occupying the presidency. Other Apple podcasts I listen to refuse to touch on these topics, not even wanting to review the technical aspects of how the 24k gold trophy was made, let alone the accompanying brand tarnishment. Also, I appreciate hearing your support for people from communities under attack even though you may not be directly part of those communities. I wish all people would show your sense of humanity and integrity.

Finding myself 🤏 this close to dropping ATP from my podcast rotation and switching away from Overcast; Marco’s unquestioning AI boosterism has become too much for me to take. For whom is this creating value? At what cost to the rest of us nerds who enjoy building PCs and tinkering with Raspberry Pi’s and setting up fancy networking gear? That all takes RAM, pal! Marco even admits in Episode 673 that consumers are being pushed aside as AI devours GPUs and RAM, but can’t seem to connect the dots and see that all this compute he’s so excited about is worthless if no one can afford anything that can ping those massively wasteful data centers. “RAM Christmas” literally just happened at Apple as the floor got raised to 16GB, and now he’s cheering on the one thing that could undo all that. At the very least, prepare to be even further mega-gouged for increased RAM in every Mac going forward. Not to mention: Marco does understand what’s happening over on X, right? And how AI is literally the source of the moral rot and criminal material being generated over there as I type this in January 2026? I find his inability or unwillingness to actually grapple with these issues embarrassing, frankly, and it’s a shame because this podcast has taught me so much about all the computers and software I use every day.

Telling an assistant to do something isn’t a funny joke and never has been. Hack local radio stations use to do this like 10 years ago by telling Alexa to play their call numbers and station name. Some of the really really boring, unoriginal, unfunny out of a single interesting thought stations actually still do this, I know because my nana listens to regular radio. Now you duds do that same thing. It stopped the podcast from playing, opened Apple Music and started playing some band, like you guys, that nobody ever heard about.

Wants to complain about discomforts of life and how Apple is too toxic and taking too much money from poor developers. And of course they want you to pay extra for 20% of show called "overtime". I remember when that was only for a few bonus episodes but now here we are. Longer and longer ads, non relevant ads, and am sure soon 40-50% of the total podcast content will be behind a paywall. Used to like the show. Zero stars
