What To Do With God's Love - EP377

We use the phrase "God loves you" so often that it has almost stopped meaning anything. It goes on bumper stickers and church signs. It gets said at funerals when nobody knows what else to say. And somewhere along the way it turned into background noise. In this episode I want to slow down and take it apart. Not the sentimental version — the real one. The kind of love that shows up before you have cleaned yourself up, that does not flinch at the parts of your story you would rather keep buried, and that does not run out when you fail again. [ONE PERSONAL STORY — 3 to 5 sentences. A moment you did not feel loved by God, or a moment His love reached you through another person. This is the single most important paragraph in the episode. Listeners forgive a rough recording. They do not forgive an abstract one.] We look at what Scripture actually claims about God's love — that it moved first, while we were still in the wrong (Romans 5:8), that it is not one of God's moods but His nature (1 John 4:8), and that nothing in your past or your future has the power to separate you from it (Romans 8:38-39). If you are carrying something you think has disqualified you, I hope you stay to the end of this one.
