I am honored to share What the Dead Told Me, a mythic fiction podcast about death, grief, love, transformation, and the mysteries that wait beyond the veil. The story follows Gloria, a witch who dies in the desert and awakens on a journey through a series of gates leading toward the Land Below. Along the way, she encounters ancient forces, parallel worlds, and difficult truths about herself, love, power, and healing. This project grew from my fascination with storytelling, ritual, and the transformative power of grief.     Episode 1 - The First Gate

    Gloria, the most powerful witch of the Southlands, flees into the desert as those who fear her magic close in. On the edge of death, she hears the Land Below calling her home. But no one enters the underworld unchanged. At the First Gate, Gloria is asked to surrender everything she believes defines her—her power, her purpose, her past—and to discover what remains when identity itself is stripped away.

    Episode 2 - The Second Gate

    Beyond the First Gate lies only darkness. Separated from her spirit guide and left alone with fear, Gloria wanders through an endless void where despair becomes her greatest teacher. As she learns to sit with every painful thought instead of fighting it, tiny lights begin to appear. Inspired by Starhawk's poem The Descent of Inanna, this episode explores transformation not as triumph, but as surrender—the caterpillar dissolving before it discovers its wings.

    "Earth eats sound. The Dead have no voices. Somewhere, you have lost yours." Unable to speak, Gloria is invited to dine with The Reaper. What begins as a confrontation becomes an intimate conversation about destruction, grief, and the delicate balance between chaos and creation. To continue her journey, Gloria must reclaim the only voice that has ever truly mattered: her own.

Together they discover that hope is not something we wait for, but something we nurture.

Ezra claims to be her spirit guide, but as waves of rage, shame, grief, peace, and doubt crash through her, she begins to question whether he is real—or simply a story her fractured mind has invented. At the Fifth Gate, there is no monster to defeat and no puzzle to solve. There is only the courage to feel everything without turning away. As Gloria learns to stop resisting her emotions, she discovers that faith is not certainty. It is the choice to trust love, even when it cannot be proven.
