    LIVE EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT!! October 13th at the IFI

    We are beyond thrilled to be announcing today that The Complete Picture will be hosting its LIVE EVER LIVE EVENT this October and it’s all thanks to the incredible folks over at the Irish Film Institute + Horrorthon Fest. On October 13th, as part of the IFI’s Bigger Picture series, we will be hosting a screening of one of the strangest, most entertaining movies you can watch this Halloween season: the Larry Cohen classic, The Stuff. Our host, Neil Rogers, will be there to briefly introduce the movie, before the carpets part, the camera rolls and we all get to enjoy a cult-classic about killer yoghurt taking over the world. This all comes as we focus our spotlight on the one and only Larry Cohen for our next episode of The Complete Picture podcast. Cohen is as interesting as filmmakers can get: a B-Movie auteur who kept Hollywood on its toes with his never-ending series of ideas for movies, TV pilots, spin-offs; whatever he could get his hands on! His career spanned Horror, Science Fiction, Satire, Political Biopic, Action-Adventure, Westerns, and so much more, including a foray into the Blaxploitation films of the early 1970s where Cohen partnered with icons such as Fred Williamson. Our series on Larry Cohen starts this week, and you will have plenty of time to listen to it before October 13th, after which you can come and join us for the crown jewel in Cohen’s filmography: The Stuff – a cult-classic body horror-comedy that satirizes the hyper-consumerism and corporate greed of 1980s America. This is all just the warm-up for IFI’s brilliant Horrorthon Festival which returns this year from October 22nd – 26th. The line-up this year is truly incredible and includes a delightfully devilish line-up of Irish and European premieres, double bills and secret screenings; the ultimate Horror Table Quiz; and a special Saturday night event in partnership with EGG Cabaret where there’ll be photos, partying and very special cabaret performances, alongside screenings of iconic teenage horror throwbacks, Carrie, Jennifer’s Body and The Loved Ones! Once again, a MASSIVE thank you to the IFI for this opportunity. I am so looking forward to seeing you all at The Stuff on October 13th.
