    God Calls Us to Come to His Temple

    God has resolved to rebuild the Temple and give grace to His covenant people. Now it is time for God to lovingly yet firmly call His people to come to Zion. Salvation has been secured, so it's time to return to the LORD. The same truth is for us today: Christ is the True Temple, True Priest, and True Sacrifice. He has forever accomplished salvation (Jn. 19:30) and it is time to come to Him (Mt. 11:28-30).

    God Dwells Among Us

    Few. Weak. Shameful. Lack of resources. Covenant failures. What hope did Israel have to rebuild the Temple? Solomon's Temple was now a by-gone era--and this was to their shame. But here is where God's grace comes in. He doesn't give His grace after we prove ourselves worthy. He meets us in the glen, He lifts our eyes of faith to His heavenly plan, and He makes unbreakable promises to dwell among us. Brothers and sisters, when your God has determined to dwell among you, you must believe that nothing will stop Him--not even your own sin.

    God Will Judge All Those Who Persecute His People

    God’s people have a threefold enemy: The world, flesh, and the devil. This threefold enemy is always attacking God’s people. But we must rest assured that God will avenge His people and bring justice. Israel must trust that Yahweh will avenge what Assyria, Babylon, and Persia have done. Even more so, believers in Israel need to trust that Yahweh will avenge what unbelievers in Israel have done. Most importantly, this vengeance will be witnessed at the Cross and the Last Judgment.

    In The Glen: When Experience Differs From Theology

    You often hear it put this way: "I know that's true, but I just don't feel it in my life." It's very common for Christians to go through circumstances where life and theology doesn't appear to match up. But God's word remains true in all circumstances. When it doesn't feel like God is near us, He has irrevocably declared that He is.

    True vs False Repentance

    We often skip over some of the most important truths in Scripture. In an age of busyness and the tyranny of the urgent, we over "microwave" our Bible reading and miss the rich food of Scripture. In Zechariah 1:3, we come across three English words (translated from two Hebrew words) that change the way we think about Christianity. "Return to me." God doesn't desire merely changed actions and habits; He wants your heart. He wants you to want Him. True repentance is the desire to turn from sin and turn to God Himself (which then overflows in righteous living). To understand the book of Zechariah, we must slow down and unpack this short sentence: "Return to me."

    Learn From Past Faithlessness & Respond To God's Grace

    Zechariah 1:1-6 calls us to deal honestly with our past so that we can learn from it. It also teaches us to respond to God's pleadings of grace. In this sermon, Rev. Wilson Van Hooser doesn't only explain what the text is saying, but also how it is saying it. By understanding the "what" and the "how", we come to better understand what God is calling us to do.

    God Is Unflinchingly Determined To Do Good To You

    God is utterly, unflinchingly, and unreservedly determined to save us and do good to us despite our sin and the wrath we deserve. We ought to take great confidence and live with optimistic faith and trust that God has unchangeably resolved to show infinite grace to us—wiping out all our sin by His appointed Messiah. Because of this, we must live in true obedience to Him rather than hypocritical religious ritual. Originally preached on 6-28-2026

    Beginning With God

    Zechariah is all about moving forward. The work of rebuilding the Temple had stalled after Haggai’s prophetic word and now God sends Zechariah to encourage Israel to endure in rebuilding the Temple. But the first and foremost responsibility they had was to begin with God Himself. They were called to be different than their fathers—who neglected God and were greatly punished for it. They must begin rebuilding the Temple with their own return to God Himself. God was to be their great foundation in all they do moving forward.

    Who is qualified to come to Jesus and be saved? What does it mean to actually be a Christian? If you come to Jesus, will He ever refuse to save you? We might not say it out loud, but often our hearts doubt the answers the Bible gives to these questions.
