The Apple-Snatcher | Cryptid Horror Story

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! A third-generation orchard hand in Pennsylvania Dutch country finds apple cores lined up in perfect rows on his press-room floor — and something in the old trees whistling his dead grandfather's song, hitch and all. Ellis traces the real folklore: the Albatwitch of the Susquehanna river hills, the Victorian picnic raids, and the thirteenth annual festival that just leaned into the unlucky number. An original folk-horror story for listeners who like their cryptids small, quick, and learning. Fiction; the folklore it draws on is real and still celebrated.

The Night Shift | Skinwalker Horror Story

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! A night-shift clerk at a lonely desert convenience store gets the same customer three nights in a row — tall, wrong-jointed, and on the third night speaking in her dead brother's voice. Ellis sits down with her for the full interview. A skinwalker story about the thing that wants you to open the door yourself — scary stories and folk horror from Whispers in the Vale, a horror podcast. Fiction; the Diné beliefs it draws on are real and still held.

The Seven-Pointed Star | Cryptid Horror Story

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! A box of cassette tapes arrives with no return address — a farmer's night recordings from the hill country of western Maryland, where the goats go quiet all at once and a whistle sounds like a train on tracks that do not exist. Ellis reconstructs the tapes: the bloodless goat on the ridge, the star painted over on the barn, and the night the thing on the roof stopped at the edge of fresh paint. An original folk-horror story built around the real Snallygaster reports, for listeners who like their scary stories tall and their woods empty. Fiction, told true.

The Hollow Light | Cryptid Horror Story

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! A home health aide driving home late takes a shortcut through a hollow in the Appalachian hills of West Virginia — and watches a green-white light choose where to land. Ellis reconstructs her case-file: the tall figure on the ridge, the spade-shaped head, the eyes that made their own light, and the family story from 1952 that said it would come back. An original folk-horror story built around the real Flatwoods Monster reports, for listeners who like their scary stories tall and their woods empty. Fiction, told true.

The Hidebehind | Cryptid Horror Story

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Forty years cutting timber in the Pennsylvania lumber country taught Danny Pryor one rule: never walk back alone after dark, and never turn around. In this episode, Ellis interviews the old cutter about the November night he started counting his steps on the skid road — and kept finding an eleventh footstep that wasn't his. An original folk-horror story built around the real Hidebehind lore, the fearsome critter from Henry Tryon's 1939 lumberjack book that stalks behind its prey and is never seen directly — plus the real Michigan newspaper sightings from 2000 and 2007. Fiction, told true.

The Hollow-Skulled | Cryptid Horror Story

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! A solo hiker's phone synced eleven voice memos to the cloud at 3:41 a.m. — then went dark. Ellis reconstructs her last night in the deep woods of northeastern Ohio, where something small has been knocking on tents for fifty years. An original folk-horror story built around the real Melonhead legends, for listeners who like their scary stories tall and their woods empty. Fiction, told true.

The Seventh Year | Cryptid Horror Story

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! A bow hunter's trail cam stamps a photo 11:47 p.m. — and catches two blue eyes at the treeline, plus a scream that starts like a dog and ends like a person. Ellis opens the case file on the Michigan Dogman: the 1987 Manistee sightings, the seventh-year pattern, and why this one came a year early. An original cryptid horror story for scary-story listeners who like their monsters tall. Fiction, told true.

The Goatman | Cryptid Horror Story

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! The Goatman Festival just wrapped its tenth year in Kentucky hill country — and one volunteer's field recorder came back from the Pope Lick trestle without her. Ellis plays the forty-seven minutes: goat bells with no goats, a voice like her dead brother, and a train that doesn't stop for the living or the dead. An original folk-horror story drawn from real Goatman lore — cryptid horror for scary-story listeners who like their monsters with hooves. Fiction, told true.
