A: A bridge requires grinding down two healthy teeth to support a fake tooth in the middle, which can lead to decay and future problems on those anchor teeth. An implant stands on its own and does not touch the teeth next to it, making it the more conservative long term choice in most cases. Q: Can you wait too long to get a dental implant? A: Yes. Once a hole has formed through the enamel into the dentin, a filling is still required. What is the tooth peptide treatment?  It is a liquid applied directly to an early cavity that forms a scaffold inside the damaged area, allowing calcium and phosphate in your saliva to rebuild the tooth structure naturally. It requires no numbing and no drilling and can be applied by a hygienist in a few extra minutes. It is about what happens when a limited toolkit, a sales culture, or a rushed exam shapes your treatment plan instead of your actual mouth. I have reviewed thousands of plans built by other offices, and the same warning signs show up again and again before a patient gets talked into work they never needed. Ask why only one option was given, whether every added tooth has a specific reason attached to it, and whether you saw a scan or photo preview before anything was cut or drilled. If those answers are missing or vague, that plan was likely built around what the office sells rather than what your mouth actually needs, and you should get a second opinion before paying a deposit. Why do dentists still use silver amalgam fillings? Amalgam does not chemically bond to the tooth, so more healthy structure has to be removed just to carve a shape that holds the filling in place mechanically. An office still defaulting to amalgam in 2024 is often less focused on conserving your natural tooth structure and more focused on speed and low material cost, which is a signal worth noticing. What should I ask if my dentist added more teeth to my plan than expected? Ask for a specific clinical reason for each individual tooth added, not a vague category like "while we're in there" or "preventive." This split creates handoffs where no single provider is fully accountable for your final result.  How can you tell if a full arch practice handles everything in house?  Ask directly whether the same team designs, mills, and adjusts your teeth on site, or whether any part goes to an outside lab or provider. A clear in house answer means one team owns your case from consultation through your final result and all follow up.  Why do full arch implant patients get stuck in temporary teeth for months?  Delays usually happen when the final teeth are made off site and need to be shipped back and forth for bite adjustments or remakes.
