09/27/2026 - Setting Reminders Pt. 2 - Exodus 10:8-11

In this sermon on Exodus 20:8–11, the message continues a study on the Fourth Commandment, encouraging believers to view God's law with love rather than as a burdensome constraint. Beginning with Psalm 119:97, the podcast explores how observing the Sabbath—or the Lord's Day—meets vital human needs revealed through time: centering our lives on God to prevent spiritual drift and granting essential rest to limited creatures. Turning to Deuteronomy 5:12–15, the message connects the Sabbath to God's redemption of Israel from Egypt, demonstrating how the command serves as a pointer to the gospel. Listeners are invited to step off the exhausting treadmill of self-reliant striving and enter into true, lasting rest through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Speaker: Pastor Chad

09/20/2026 - Setting Reminders - Exodus 20:8-11

In this sermon on Exodus 20:8–11, Pastor Chad explores the Fourth Commandment—to remember the Sabbath—by highlighting that time itself is a created gift from God, who exists outside of its constraints and sovereignty governs every moment. Rather than viewing time as a personal possession, believers are called to steward it intentionally through God's twin biblical purposes: six days dedicated to noble, neighbor-loving work that reflects God's ongoing care for creation, balanced by setting aside dedicated time for holy rest and corporate worship. 09/13/2026 - Oil & Water - Exodus 20:7

In this sermon on Exodus 20:7, the speaker explores the deeper meaning of the Third Commandment, demonstrating that "taking the Lord's name in vain" extends far beyond avoiding profanity to governing how believers represent God in daily life. Using the solemnity of 9/11 memorial ceremonies as a contrast to spiritual frivolity, the message highlights that carrying God’s name—a reality sealed through Christian baptism—is both a joyful privilege and a heavy responsibility to accurately reflect His character. Ultimately, believers are called to reject a light, empty, or shallow view of faith, living instead in a way that honors God as the supreme, weighty center of their lives and protects His name from being misrepresented before the world. 09/06/2026 - Our Incomparable God - Exodus 20:4-6

In this sermon on Exodus 20:4–6, the pastor unpacks the second commandment, emphasizing that while the first commandment addresses who believers worship, the second governs how they are to worship God. Warning against the human tendency to worship the right God in the wrong way, he highlights how people—both ancient and modern—are tempted to craft idols from creation or substitute entertainment, ambiance, and self-centered experiences for true reverence. To guard against this, the pastor advocates for the historic principle that church worship must be strictly guided and limited by Scripture rather than human invention. Reciting a statement on God's divine nature from the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith, he argues that because God is infinitely holy, transcendent, and supreme, no created image or earthly invention can adequately represent Him. Ultimately, the sermon calls the congregation to declare God's ultimate greatness and honor their covenant relationship with Him, recognizing that His divine "jealousy" reflects a sacred, marriage-like devotion to His people. 08/30/26 - Supreme Love - Exodus 20:3

This sermon examines Exodus 20:3, "You shall have no other gods before me," showing that it reveals both God and us. Because there is one true God, infinite in worth, our worship must be exclusive and He must be the center of our lives. Because we are worshipers by nature, idolatry is a perpetual struggle—even good gifts like family or work can become idols when we rest our hope in them instead of God. The sermon closes with the gospel: we are all guilty idolaters, but Christ worshiped the Father perfectly and bore the penalty for our idolatry on the cross, offering forgiveness and freedom to all who repent and believe.
