Episode 8 | “I’m Busy. Maybe in a Couple Weeks.”Why We Wait Until Life Becomes Urgent“ If you own a business, you probably just felt that sentence in your soul. 😂 But this episode isn’t really about rejection. It’s about something ALL of us do: waiting until something becomes an emergency before deciding it deserves our attention. Tom and I work in an industry where we’ve seen the other side of “later.” We don’t have a crystal ball. We’ve just seen the ending enough times to recognize the beginning. And it makes me wonder... Why will we give an emergency ten hours tomorrow, but we won’t give prevention thirty minutes today? We do it with our health. Money. Retirement. Relationships. Businesses. Estate planning. That weird noise in the car we’ve been pretending doesn’t exist. 😂 We’re busy. We’ll get to it. We’ll call next week. Until suddenly, we HAVE to make time. For my fellow entrepreneurs, we’re also getting into one of the hardest parts of building a service-based business: How do you help someone understand a problem they haven’t felt yet? There’s a big difference between creating fear and creating clarity. Good businesses don’t manufacture urgency. They help people see the urgency that already exists. And then comes the hard lesson: You can educate. You can ask better questions. You can show up. You can care deeply. But you cannot care more about someone’s future than they do. So grab your coffee and pull up a chair. We’re talking rejection, procrastination, entrepreneurship, prevention, priorities and why maybe we all need to stop waiting for life to slow down. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t. 😂☕️ 🤍 COFFEE REFLECTION What important thing have you been calling “not urgent” simply because nothing bad has happened yet? And could you give it 30 minutes this week?

Episode 7 | Don’t Mistake My Kindness for Weakness

Episode 7 | Don’t Mistake My Kindness for Weakness Boundaries, Good Humans & Protecting Your Peace Apparently this week Apollo wasn’t the only one moving barns. My boundaries packed their shit and moved too. 😂 This week on Coffee, Chaos & Community, a difficult barn transition turned into a much bigger lesson about people, generosity, boundaries, and protecting your peace. I’ve always been a giver. I help. I accommodate. I show up. And I genuinely love that part of myself. But sometimes you don’t realize you’ve given too much until someone gets angry when you finally stop giving. And THAT will teach you something. We’re talking about what happens when kindness becomes expectation, why silence shouldn’t be mistaken for weakness, and the freedom that comes when you realize you don’t have to defend yourself against every version of you that exists in someone else’s head. The horse world taught me something else this week, too: experience doesn’t automatically equal character. Someone can have decades of knowledge and still not be the right person for you, your horse, your business, or your life. Sometimes finding genuine, compassionate, humble people who are willing to learn and show up matters more than finding the person with the biggest résumé. And in the middle of some really crappy circumstances, something beautiful happened. Good people showed up. Because hard seasons don’t just reveal the people you may need to walk away from. They reveal the people you should be walking toward. 🤍 So grab your coffee, your wine, or honestly something stronger depending on your week. 😂 We’re talking boundaries, good humans, horses, personal growth, protecting your peace... and a whole lot of WTF. ☕ Coffee Reflection:Where in your life are you giving from kindness, but someone else has started receiving it as entitlement? And are you still giving because you genuinely want to, or because you’re afraid of what will happen when you stop?

Episode 6 | The Next Level Is Scary Too

🎙️ Episode 6: The Next Level Is Scary TooWhen Your Dream Starts Becoming Real📝 Have you ever prayed for something... and then when it finally started becoming possible, you suddenly felt terrified? This week on Coffee, Chaos & Community, I'm sharing what it's been like to step into the next phase of building my concierge nursing practice. The vision has never been clearer... but if I'm being honest, I've also never felt more overwhelmed. The funny thing is, I'm not lacking ideas. Trust me... my brain has plenty of those. 😂 I'm navigating decision fatigue, imposter syndrome, fear of getting it wrong, and the realization that sometimes we hide inside "research mode" because taking action feels so much scarier. As entrepreneurs, parents, caregivers, and dreamers, we often convince ourselves that we just need one more class, one more certification, one more podcast, one more YouTube video, or one more piece of information before we're finally "ready." But what if ready never comes? What if confidence isn't something we wait for... What if it's something we build by taking the next imperfect step? Whether you're growing a business, changing careers, going back to school, working toward a healthier life, or standing at the edge of a dream that feels bigger than you, this conversation is for you. So grab your coffee (or your favorite glass of wine), pull up a chair, and let's connect some dots together. ☕ In This Episode • Why the next level can feel scarier than the beginning • Decision fatigue and analysis paralysis • The hidden fear behind "just one more thing" • Why entrepreneurs often get stuck in research mode • Overcoming imposter syndrome while building something meaningful • Trading perfection for progress • Learning to trust yourself before you have every answer • Why growth always begins outside your comfort zone 🤍 Coffee Reflection What's one dream you've been researching instead of pursuing? Maybe this week... we stop waiting to feel ready.

    Episode 5 | Rejection is God's Protection

Sometimes the biggest blessing doesn't feel like one... at first. This week I'm sharing something that hit me harder than I expected. I was pursuing what felt like an incredible opportunity. Two amazing interviews. Lots of excitement. Every sign pointed toward "yes." Then... an email. Hiring was paused. Cue the disappointment. Cue the pity party. Cue overthinking every single conversation. But after sitting with it for a while, I realized something... Maybe rejection isn't punishment. Maybe it's protection. Maybe the opportunity I was chasing wasn't nearly as exciting as the one I've already been building. In this episode we're talking about rejection, resilience, comparison, imposter syndrome, and why so many people quit just before their breakthrough. If you've ever questioned your worth because a door closed... If you've ever wondered why someone else's success came so easily while you're still grinding... If you're trying to build something bigger than yourself... This conversation is for you. Grab your coffee and come hang out. ❤️ You're exactly where you need to be. ☕ In This Episode • The emotional stages of rejection • Why comparison quietly steals our joy • Imposter syndrome while building something new • Why entrepreneurs quit too early • Pivoting instead of giving up • Why closed doors often redirect us • Learning to trust the timing of your own story • Why your biggest opportunity might already be in front of you ☕ Coffee Reflection What's one closed door in your life that eventually led you somewhere even better? I'd genuinely love to hear your story.

Episode 4 | The Permission Slip

The Permission Slip: Stop Waiting for Someone Else to Tell You You're Ready What if the only thing standing between you and the life you want... is the permission you've been waiting for? This episode started with a simple conversation over coffee. I found myself saying something that surprised even me: "Maybe we spend so much of our lives waiting for permission that we forget we're allowed to give it to ourselves." A friend looked at me and said, "Write that down. You'll understand it later." She was right. In this episode of Coffee, Chaos & Community, we're talking about the invisible permission slips we wait for throughout life—the ones that tell us we're smart enough, qualified enough, healed enough, successful enough, or ready enough to chase the things we dream about. As a nurse, entrepreneur, wife, mom, and business owner, I've realized that so much of what holds us back isn't a lack of ability... It's the stories we've believed about ourselves. Maybe today is the day you stop waiting. Maybe today is the day you sign your own permission slip. So grab your coffee (or your favorite glass of wine), pull up a chair, and let's connect some dots together. ☕ In This Episode • Why we wait for permission from other people • Childhood experiences that shape our confidence • The psychology behind imposter syndrome • Learning to trust your own voice • Growing beyond the labels that define you • Why your potential is bigger than your credentials • Giving yourself permission to become who you're meant to be 🤍 Coffee Reflection What permission have you been waiting for that you could give yourself today?

Episode 3 | When Everything Comes Crashing Down

When Everything Comes Crashing Down The Jelly Jar Lesson Sometimes life doesn't whisper that you're doing too much... It shatters a jar of jelly across your kitchen floor. In this episode of Coffee, Chaos & Community, I'm sharing one of those days every entrepreneur, and honestly, every human, can relate to. I was rushing to create content, get out the door, juggle appointments, build businesses, and keep everything moving... when everything quite literally came crashing down. What started as a broken jar of strawberry jelly became an unexpected reminder that being busy isn't always the same as being productive. Sometimes our biggest lessons show up disguised as inconveniences. Sometimes life forces us to slow down, laugh at ourselves, and reconnect with what actually matters. If you've ever felt pulled in a hundred different directions while trying to build a business, raise a family, chase a dream, or simply keep up with everyday life, this conversation is for you. So grab your coffee (or your favorite glass of wine), pull up a chair, and let's connect some dots together. ☕ In This Episode • When "busy" starts turning into chaos • The difference between productivity and progress • Why entrepreneurs often struggle with focus • Learning to finish what you start • Laughing through life's unexpected moments • Finding clarity after everything comes crashing down • Building a business without losing yourself in the process 🤍 Coffee Reflection: Where in your life are you confusing being busy with making progress?

Episode 1 | Protect Your Peace

What if protecting your peace isn't about avoiding chaos... but choosing what deserves your energy? Welcome to the very first episode of Coffee, Chaos & Community. This wasn't supposed to become a podcast. It started as a voice memo, a simple conversation recorded while I was driving, trying to make sense of life, business, and the lessons that keep showing up when we slow down long enough to notice them. I'm Nicci Barilla ::: a nurse, entrepreneur, wife, mom of four, coach, and someone who's still becoming. I'm not here because I've figured life out. I'm here because talking through life is how I make sense of it, and I have a feeling I'm not the only one. In this episode, we talk about protecting your peace, surrounding yourself with people who lift you up, choosing community over competition, and why building a meaningful life starts long before we ever "make it." This is where the journey begins, and I'm so glad you're here. ☕ In this episode: Why protecting your peace is essential for growthBuilding a business without losing yourselfThe importance of authentic communityWhy I decided to start this podcast now instead of waiting until everything was "perfect"The beginning of the Coffee, Chaos & Community journeyIf this conversation resonates with you, I'd love for you to follow the podcast, leave a rating, and share it with someone who needs this reminder today. ☕ Grab your coffee, pull up a chair, and let's connect the dots together.
