The Idols Practising Muslims Don't Know They're Worshipping

When we hear the word idols, we might think of physical statues. But what if the idols we worship today are far more subtle? They can look like other people’s opinions, society’s expectations, attachment to work, external appearances, power and perception. They begin to take hold when we place them above Allah, allowing them to shape our choices and determine how we live. In this episode, I explore the idols we may be carrying within our hearts, including the fear of what people will think and the belief that fixing the external will fix everything else. This is not about abandoning your responsibilities or dismissing the means available to you. It is about putting everything in its proper place and asking yourself an honest question: Who are you really living for? Because stepping into leadership, stewarding wealth and leaving a legacy require more than the right appearance or strategy. They require the courage to leave behind the scripts others have written for you and return to Allah. 🎧 Press play, or listen to this episode through Apple Podcast, Spotify or PocketCasts What’s covered in this episode: * What modern-day idols can look like * How other people’s opinions begin to control our choices * The difference between using the means and placing our hope in them * Why external appearances do not reveal what is inside a person’s heart * How attachment to branding and strategy can distract us from inner work * The connection between purification, transformation and returning to Allah * Why living according to someone else’s script causes suffering * What it takes to put obedience to Allah above the expectations of creation * The difficult question only you and Allah can answer: Who are you really living for? — Are you a Muslim woman in corporate who wants to build a business of your own? For the Woman in Corporate Who Wants a Business of Her Own

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit rizqunblocked.substack.com I’m excited to introduce you to the private space within Rizq Unblocked. It’s for Muslim women who want to build a business of their own alongside their corporate careers. In this episode, I share why I created it and what you can expect. If you’re considering joining, this is an introduction to the space. And if you’ve already joined, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. Earlier this week, I shared the story behind my own wish to build a business. I thought it would come naturally to me. I come from generations of business owners, and I’ve been involved in businesses since I was young. But knowing about business and building something of my own turned out to be very different things. Still, I kept trying. I threw everything at this dream: time, money, courses, strategies and systems. Those things mattered, but what I kept missing was the inner work of becoming someone who could actually act on what she knew. Making decisions without waiting for approval. Putting my work out there before I felt completely ready. Asking for help instead of trying to carry everything myself. That’s why I created this space. I want us to work on these things while you build a business that fits your values, your responsibilities and the way you want to live. It’s something I wish I’d had over the last 13 years, as I went through building and closing seven businesses. There’s a lot from those experiences that I’m looking forward to sharing with you here. A thank-you for your support To thank you for supporting Rizq Unblocked, I’m offering a one-month free trial of the paid space. You can listen to the private episodes and join us for live coaching before deciding whether you’d like to stay. Use the link to claim your free month. The offer is available until November 10, 2026. What you can expect * A weekly private podcast: Conversations and insights you can listen to on your way to work or while you’re going about your day. We’ll explore the inner work that comes with building a business of your own, and your relationship with money. * Space for your questions: You can leave questions in the comments, including anything you’d like me to cover in a future episode. * Monthly live coaching: Bring the challenges you’re facing and hear from other Muslim women navigating this transition. My aim is to hold these calls around the start of each Hijri month, rotating times so women in different time zones have a chance to join. * Subscriber-only savings: Discounts on future workshops, and programs. This isn’t a space where I’ll tell you which business to start or where the money is. This work is even deeper. It’s a space to become the woman who owns a business that fits your values and the life you want to have. If you’d like to join, become a paid subscriber to get access to the weekly private podcast and monthly live coaching.

I Had Business in My Blood, But I Still Could Not Make It Work

In this episode, I’m sharing the personal story behind why I became a business coach. What I learned from generations of business owners, seven businesses of my own, and discovering that strategy was not my real problem. It’s raw, honest, and includes some things I haven’t even told my closest friends. 🎧 Press play, or listen to this episode through Apple Podcast, Spotify or PocketCasts In this episode, I talk about: * Growing up in a family of righteous business owners * The shame behind starting and closing multiple businesses * What working in corporate taught me about fear and scarcity * How illness led me towards coaching * The personal patterns that were affecting my business * Why your business can’t grow past where you are * How I now help Muslim women build businesses that fit who they are * The thing that changed my business wasn’t another strategy. It was the inner work. An invitation for Muslim women building a business I’m launching a paid space on Substack for Muslim women who are working in corporate and wanting to build a business of their own. There is a lot that comes up when you start building something for yourself. The game of business is different from the game of corporate, even though there are many useful skills you can take with you. Inside the paid space, I’ll be sharing the part of business that isn’t spoken about enough. The inner work that goes beyond strategy. There Is More Than Enough Wealth for Everyone

Today I want to talk about money, and specifically one belief from the article I posted on Substack called 15 Things I Believe About Money That Most People Don’t. That belief is this: there is more than enough for everyone. Allah created this world abundant by default, and the scarcity most of us feel around money is a limiting belief, not the truth. In this episode, I break down where that scarcity mindset actually comes from, what real abundance looks like in creation, and why chasing money to heal what’s missing inside you will never actually work. 🎧 Press play, or listen to this episode through Apple Podcast, Spotify or PocketCasts What’s covered in this episode * How Allah created the world abundant by default, and why you only need to look at creation to see it * What Allah’s names Al-Karim and Al-Mughni tell us about provision * Why the scarcity we experience today is not the default, but the result of injustice and hoarding * What the numbers actually show, what each person would receive if wealth was divided equally, compared to what the top 1 percent holds today * Why money is a tool that amplifies whatever is already in your heart * Why chasing wealth to heal insecurity becomes a race that never ends, no matter how much you earn * The invitation to question any guilt you carry about earning more, since someone else’s abundance never decreases yours If you've been playing small with your business or your money goals because some part of you believes there isn't enough to go around, book a coaching session with me and let’s go deeper. You Don't Have to Say Yes to Every Good Deed

In today’s episode, I want to talk about a trap I see so many Muslim women falling into: saying yes to everything because it’s khair, because it’s a good deed. When every opportunity feels like a chance to earn reward, you end up taking on too much, feeling overwhelmed, and stretched thin in every direction. In this episode, I walk through how to discern what you actually must do, what you are best suited to do, and what you can let go of, so you can lead with clarity instead of guilt. 🎧 Press play, or listen to this episode through Apple Podcast, Spotify or PocketCasts What’s covered in this episode * The trap of saying yes to everything because it feels like a good deed * Why being able to do something doesn’t mean you need to do it * Going back to your source of truth and knowing what is fard on you * Getting honest about whether you’re actually fulfilling what’s already obligatory, your health, your family, your marriage * How Allah’s legislation of prayer, five obligatory and the rest voluntary, mirrors this same discernment * Why saying no is an uncomfortable but necessary part of stepping into leadership * The contrast in how women and men often navigate priorities and boundaries * The reflection questions to ask yourself: is this something I must do, I’ve been made to do, I can do, or something only Allah can take care of If you're the sister who says yes to everything because it feels like khair, but you're quietly drowning in it all, book a coaching session and let’s find out how you can get out. Why Your Messy House Is Blocking Your Business

If your home life is chaotic, that chaos follows you straight into your business. That's what I want to explore in this episode. The reality is that most female entrepreneurs carry a weight that looks different from most male entrepreneurs. The fix isn’t to work harder, it’s to build real systems at home, the same way you’d build systems in a business. In this episode, I get honest about why - as a woman in business - the house and the business are so tied together, why sincere intention turns even the most boring daily tasks into something that carries barakah, and why unlearning the nine to five mindset that ties your worth to hours worked matters so much on this path. 🎧 Press play, or listen to this episode through Apple Podcast, Spotify or PocketCasts What is covered in episode: * Why the load looks different for most female entrepreneurs, who often don’t have the same support at home that many male entrepreneurs rely on * Treating your house like a business: what systems, routines, and help you actually need * How the systems Allah built into creation, even the human body, are a model for the systems we need at home * Unlearning nine to five habits: the need to fill time with busywork, the belief that more hours means more success * Why focus, not hours, is what actually moves a business forward * Solving small recurring problems, like meal planning, so they stop draining your energy * Doing the boring, repetitive tasks with the right intention, and how that sabr can be a form of worship If you're building a business while also trying to hold a home together that feels like it's falling apart, book a coaching session with me and let’s address this. Why Content Creation Feels So Hard (It's Not Skill)

Stepping into your leadership starts with being willing to be seen, and for a lot of women, that shows up most clearly the moment you have to post something. This episode isn’t about content strategy. It’s about why knowing how to create content still doesn’t make it easy to actually show up and post it, especially for women who are capable, qualified, and still hold back. If you struggle to be seen, if speaking your truth never felt safe growing up, if you learned to be a people pleaser and say what others want to hear instead of what you actually think, all of that shows up the moment you try to post something. That’s the part that never really gets talked about, and it’s usually the real reason showing up as a leader through your content feels so much harder than it should. 🎧 Press play, or listen to this episode through Apple Podcast, Spotify or PocketCasts What is covered in episode * Why the block around content usually isn’t about strategy or knowing what to do * The fear of being seen and how it quietly shapes what you’re willing to post * Growing up as a people pleaser and how that shows up when you try to speak your truth publicly * The iceberg underneath every piece of content you see online, and all the work that happens before someone hits post * My own twelve years of podcasting on and off, and the anxiety that still shows up before I hit record * Why the treasure inside you is already there, just buried under conditioning and old experiences * What tazkiyah has to do with being ready to actually create and share what you know If you know you're meant to lead and you keep holding back the moment it's time to show up, send me a DM on Substack or Instagram and let's talk about what's really in the way.
