The Tao of Emily Dickinson (The Tao, Episode 6)

Here’s a short one. What do you get when Emily Dickinson and the Tao te Ching walk onto a paddleboat? Me talking about “Spirit.” I filmed this aboard “The Natchez” paddleboat in New Orleans, so it’s super short. This is a public episode. Silence as Prayer, Prayer as Nondoing (The Tao, Chapter 3)

Wu-wei! When the noise stops, we can hear the ringing of hope. When we stop doing, a knowing comes, a new realness, a glory to glory. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit reconstructionunfiltered.substack.com

What is Faith? And How to "Follow" It (The Tao, Episode 1)

What does it mean to follow a way you cannot name, and have faith in what you cannot see? A particular Christ revealing a cosmic god, this is the mystery of mysteries which we walk down. To walk this path is to have faith. Note: I intended to post these consistently, but have neglected to partially due to having to reupload the videos to my Substack drafts after they mysteriously disappeared, and partially because I went to Disney World. I have now scheduled the posts and will share essays every other week, perhaps, I am figuring out how I want to relate to this little ecosystem of Substack. If you’re here, thanks a ton. Christ Unbound from Particularity (The Tao, Episode 0)

God does not limit godself to “providencing” in the ancient near east in between 0 and 33ad, nah. God is like water. Let’s find out what that might mean in this series reflecting on the Tao Te Ching through the Christ tradition. I originally filmed this a few years ago, and am continuing the project now. You’ll also hear me refer to the series as “Thursways.” That’s just not the best title so I changed it. I, unfortunately, use mostly masculine pronouns to refer to god, which I now think is bad theology, but alas. Thanks for listening. Be sure to subscribe to get updates. This is a public episode.
