    This episode covers the preparation before my CAR-T infusion. On 8 July 2025, my T cells were collected and sent overseas to be modified to recognise and attack my lymphoma. Then, on 23 July—our third wedding anniversary—I underwent a completely separate backup stem-cell collection at Townsville University Hospital. What should have been a special day became a massive hospital shift involving four attempts to gain access, hours connected to the collection machine and an anniversary unlike anything Nikki and I had imagined. I also share the beautiful gesture Lauren from the oncology team made for us the following day—a surprise anniversary cake that brought us both to tears.     The Journals #1 – My First Journal | Still Here

    These are the recordings I made while I was actually living through it. During my cancer journey in 2025, I started recording little video journals from hospital. Some are updates about what was happening to me. Some are messages to Nikki, my kids, my brother, family and mates. Some are serious. Some are funny. Some are completely random. There are even moments where nurses walk into the room while I'm recording and life just carries on around me. I wasn't making a podcast. I wasn't creating content. I wasn't thinking about views or followers. I was simply recording what was happening in my life at that moment. Watching them back now is strange, because I know what happened next. The bloke in these videos didn't. I've decided to start sharing them through Still Here exactly as they happened. No re-recording. No polishing them up. No trying to make myself sound better. Some will only be short. Some will be emotional. Some will probably make you laugh. And some may be difficult for me and my family to watch again. This is The Journals. Real footage. Real moments.     Cancer in My Brain | CNS Lymphoma: The Fight Was Back On.

    Friday, 30 May 2025. Brad wakes in Townsville University Hospital, confused and waiting for Nikki to arrive. What follows is a week of lumbar punctures, MRI, PET and CT scans as doctors try to confirm whether Brad’s testicular lymphoma has returned in his brain. Dr Birchley discusses the possible treatments, while a neurosurgeon explains that a brain biopsy may be the last resort—and that the risks could be life-threatening. Before the diagnosis is even confirmed, Brad and Nikki are forced to discuss his will, enduring power of attorney, their children and the possibility that he may not come home. Nikki fills in the gaps Brad can’t remember as they revisit the moment the diagnosis was confirmed: the lymphoma had returned in his central nervous system. Mentally, Brad’s fight had already reignited. Now the physical battle—and chemotherapy—was beginning again. This is our personal experience, not medical advice.     The Day it all started again: Blackwater to Townsville

    After surviving testicular lymphoma, Finding Remission and returning to work, I suffered a seizure behind the wheel and crashed near Blackwater. My wife Nikki joins me to reconstruct the parts that brain fog erased—from Blackwater Hospital and the transfer to Emerald, to waking up in Townsville University Hospital waiting for Nikki. We tell the same frightening day from two very different sides: the patient who remembers fragments and the partner taking the calls, trying to understand what was happening and wondering whether I would be okay.     Through Her Eyes - The Parts I Couldn't remember

    For the Season 1 finale, Nikki joins me to share our cancer journey through her eyes. She wasn’t keen to come onto the podcast, knowing how difficult it would be to revisit everything—but she found the courage to sit beside me and tell her side of our story. What followed was an emotional rollercoaster. There were tears, laughter, painful memories and moments of complete honesty as we revisited the diagnosis, treatment, remission and the pressure it placed on our entire family. Nikki remembered things differently from me, including moments I had misunderstood or simply couldn’t remember through the fog. Hearing what was really happening around me opened my eyes to everything she carried quietly while I was focused on surviving. The emotions became overwhelming at times, but nothing was rehearsed and nothing was held back. This is a very raw conversation between a husband and wife who lived through the same experience—but saw it from two completely different sides. This is not only my story. It is ours.

    The Weekend Away — I Needed to Switch Off.

    Something didn’t feel right. I couldn’t really explain it — I just needed to get away and switch off. We were supposed to be camping with friends, but instead I hooked up the van and headed off alone. One night at Rollingstone, then two nights at Mission Beach — walking the beach, clearing my head and trying to reset. Nikki, the kids and my mates were worried. Nathan even rang to check on me, but I kept telling everyone the same thing: I’m fine. Don’t stress. Looking back now, that weekend feels different. Was I simply exhausted after everything we’d been through? Was my mind playing tricks on me? Or was there something else going on that none of us understood? At the time, I had no idea what was coming. If in doubt, get checked out.
