The Buffalo Bills May Have FINALLY Solved This Problem

One of the Buffalo Bills' biggest question marks entering the season may already look a lot less concerning. Special teams. Greg Dortch was elevated for Week 1 and gave Buffalo exactly what it needed in the return game. The punt-return numbers weren't spectacular, but he was secure with the football and consistently gave Josh Allen's offense possession without creating unnecessary drama. Greg Rousseau had some questions to answer entering the Buffalo Bills' new defensive era. After one game under Jim Leonhard? He looks just fine. Rousseau recorded two sacks in Buffalo's 36-31 win over Houston and looked extremely comfortable operating in his new role. It was his sixth career multi-sack game — and Buffalo is now 6-0 when Rousseau gets at least two sacks. But the Bills defense wasn't perfect. Far from it. Houston scored 31 points and tested Buffalo throughout the afternoon, particularly when C.J. Stroud had enough time to let routes develop. Jim Leonhard, however, came away from the film believing his defense was closer than the final numbers suggested. Now he's already identified something he wants changed. Josh Allen Just Showed Why This Bills Offense Is DIFFERENT

Josh Allen's game-winning touchdown against Houston may have shown us exactly why this Buffalo Bills offense is different in 2026. The touchdown to Joshua Palmer wasn't supposed to go there. Allen said Buffalo had NEVER repped the ball going to Palmer on that play. But when Houston's safety cheated toward DJ Moore, Allen recognized it and made the Texans pay. That's what having a legitimate WR1 can do for an offense — even when he doesn't touch the football. And Moore made plenty of plays himself. He finished his Bills debut with five receptions for 100 yards, immediately establishing himself as one of Josh Allen's primary weapons alongside Dalton Kincaid and Khalil Shakir. REACTION: Buffalo Bills FINALLY Win in Houston, Beat Texans 36-31

The House of Horrors is OVER. The Buffalo Bills open the Joe Brady era with an incredible 36-31 road win over the Houston Texans, giving Josh Allen his first career victory in Houston and Buffalo its first win there since 2006. And Josh Allen was ridiculous. 334 passing yards. Two passing touchdowns. Two rushing touchdowns. DJ Moore immediately showed what a true WR1 can bring to this offense, Khalil Shakir was attacking beyond the short passing game, and Dalton Kincaid exploded for 130 receiving yards. Defensively? There are things Jim Leonhard needs to fix. Houston tested Buffalo throughout the game, the secondary had some communication problems and the run defense wasn't where it needs to be. But when the Bills absolutely HAD to make a play, the defense delivered. Two sacks on Houston's final drive. A strip-sack to finish it. Ballgame. There will be plenty to clean up before Thursday night's home opener against Detroit. But Buffalo is 1-0.
