RESET – Why Didn't Anybody Tell Me This? is a podcast that challenges conventional thinking about health, aging, and chronic disease. Hosted by Dr. Catie Harris, each episode explores the biology behind why our bodies adapt, why symptoms develop, and how understanding cellular function can transform the way we approach health. Instead of asking, "What disease do you have?" we ask a different question: "Why did your biology adapt this way?" If you've ever wondered why nobody explained how the body really works, this podcast is for you.

12 - Can Your Body Repair and Regenerate? | Why Healing Requires More Than Treating the Injury

What if the most important question in regenerative medicine isn’t which treatment to use—but whether your body has what it needs to heal? In this episode of RESET, Dr. Catie Harris explores RESET Question #10: Can your body repair and regenerate? Your body is repairing itself every day. But healing requires far more than targeting the injured tissue. It requires energy, protein and other raw materials, circulation, immune signaling, appropriate inflammation, mechanical input, sleep, and the ability to coordinate an extraordinarily complex repair process. Dr. Harris explains why some tissues heal better than others, the difference between repair and true regeneration, why scar tissue isn’t necessarily a failure, and how ongoing damage can prevent even an otherwise healthy repair response from succeeding. The episode also explores where regenerative therapies such as PRP, acoustic wave therapy, peptides, exosomes, and cellular therapies may fit—and why advanced treatments cannot be separated from the biological environment in which they're expected to work. The better question isn’t: “What regenerative treatment should I get?” It’s: “What does my body need in order to heal?” Because treatments can provide signals and change the environment. But ultimately, the body has to do the healing. The body isn’t broken. It’s adapting. Learn more at PhillyWellnessCenter.com

10 - Can You Detoxify and Manage Oxidative Stress? | What “Detox” Actually Means

What if your body doesn’t need a detox—because it’s already detoxifying every minute of every day? In this episode of RESET, Dr. Catie Harris explores RESET Question #8: Can you detoxify and manage oxidative stress? Detoxification isn’t a juice cleanse, tea, powder, or seven-day protocol. It’s an ongoing biological process involving your liver, kidneys, gut, lungs, cellular enzyme systems, and the nutrients and energy required to keep those systems working. But detoxification is only half of the conversation. Dr. Harris also explores oxidative stress and challenges another common assumption: that oxidation is always bad and antioxidants are always good. Your body deliberately produces reactive oxygen species for signaling, immune defense, and adaptation. The goal isn’t to eliminate them—it’s to maintain the capacity to manage oxidative challenges, repair damage, and return to balance. You’ll learn how detoxification and oxidative stress connect to glutathione, NAC, mitochondrial function, inflammation, cell membranes, gut health, exercise, aging, and the body’s own antioxidant defense systems. Most importantly, this episode shifts the question from: “What do I need to take to detox?” to: “Is the burden on my body greater than its capacity to process, repair, and recover?” Because the goal isn’t to micromanage your liver, eliminate every free radical, or become afraid of everything in your environment. The goal is resilience—giving your body the resources and environment it needs to do the job it already knows how to do. The body isn’t broken. It’s adapting. Learn more at PhillyWellnessCenter.com

6 - Are Your Hormones Optimized? | Why “Normal” Labs Don’t Always Tell the Whole Story

What if your hormones aren't simply “high” or “low”—but part of a much larger communication system responding to what's happening throughout your body? In this episode of RESET, Dr. Catie Harris explores the fourth RESET question: Are your hormones optimized? Hormones are biological messengers. Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid hormones, insulin, cortisol, DHEA, and others help coordinate everything from metabolism and energy to brain function, muscle, sexual health, sleep, and stress responses. But a single hormone level doesn't always tell the entire story. Dr. Harris explains why understanding hormones requires looking beyond one laboratory value to consider symptoms, receptors, binding proteins, metabolism, timing, age, sleep, nutrition, metabolic health, and the biological environment in which those hormonal signals are operating. You'll also discover why hormonal changes aren't necessarily evidence that the body has “failed.” Sometimes the endocrine system is adapting to the terrain it's been given. This episode explores menopause, testosterone, thyroid function, insulin resistance, cortisol, and hormone replacement therapy while asking a critical question: Are your hormones actually the problem—or are your hormones responding appropriately to another problem? Because optimization isn't about pushing every hormone higher. It's about understanding the person, recognizing the pattern, and determining what the biology is trying to accomplish. The body isn't broken. It's adapting. And sometimes understanding why the message changed is just as important as changing the message. Learn more at PhillyWellnessCenter.com

5 - Can Your Brain Communicate Properly? | Why Brain Fog Is a Signal, Not a Diagnosis

What if brain fog, poor focus, forgetfulness, or feeling mentally “off” isn't simply a problem with your brain—but a problem with communication? In this episode of RESET, Dr. Catie Harris explores the third RESET question: Can your brain communicate appropriately? Your brain is an enormous communication network. Billions of neurons must constantly send, receive, interpret, and respond to signals. But successful communication requires much more than neurotransmitters. It depends on healthy cell membranes, adequate mitochondrial energy, receptors, ion gradients, hormones, nutrients, sleep, metabolic health, and the environment surrounding those neurons. Dr. Harris explains why symptoms such as brain fog, difficulty concentrating, memory changes, anxiety, and declining mental stamina should be viewed as information—not diagnoses by themselves. You'll discover how the first three RESET questions connect: healthy membranes provide the infrastructure, mitochondria provide the energy, and the brain uses both to communicate. This episode also explores neuroinflammation, the gut-brain connection, hormonal changes, sleep, exercise, plasmalogens, and why simply trying to increase a neurotransmitter may miss the larger biological picture. Most importantly, you'll learn to ask a different question: Is my brain failing to communicate—or am I asking it to communicate in an environment that makes communication difficult? Because sometimes the answer isn't forcing the brain to work harder. It's improving the conditions that allow the brain to communicate well. The body isn't broken. It's adapting. And your brain is adapting, too. Learn more at PhillyWellnessCenter.com
