Respect Is Earned, Not Demanded | Curry Roberts

Everybody wants respect. Few understand how to earn it. What makes someone worthy of respect? Is it their position, their accomplishments, or the way they treat the people around them? In this episode of Inside the Arena, Shaindel Marcus welcomes Curry Roberts for a conversation about the experiences that shaped his understanding of leadership, empathy, and personal responsibility. Curry shares a simple but powerful philosophy: people work with you, not for you. Growing up in a small Virginia community taught him that every contribution has value. Years later, that lesson would influence the way he approached leadership, teamwork, and accountability. But some of his most meaningful lessons came from unexpected places. As a teenager, Curry worked in a funeral home, where he encountered families during some of their most difficult moments. The experience gave him an early understanding of empathy and the importance of treating others with dignity. From his professional experiences to his work with students, Curry reflects on what it means to lead ethically, learn from failure, embrace different perspectives, and contribute to something greater than yourself. He also shares why he remains optimistic about younger generations and why he believes making a difference requires action rather than criticism. This conversation is a reminder that respect isn't something we receive because of our position. It's something we build through our actions. Stop Doubting Yourself: How to see what others see in you | Patti Schutte

What happens when someone else sees your potential more clearly than you do? For Patti Schutte, a few simple words changed the direction of her life: "I believe in you." From teaching mathematics and coaching sports to developing corporate presenters and eventually building Be Brilliant Presentation Group, Patti spent decades helping others recognize their abilities, communicate with confidence, and achieve results. But when an opportunity came to turn her own expertise into a business, she found herself questioning whether she could actually do it. In this conversation with Shaindel Marcus, Patti shares the experiences that shaped her career, the people who challenged her to see herself differently, and the decisions that eventually gave her the courage to leave corporate America and pursue entrepreneurship. They explore why talented professionals sometimes struggle to recognize their own accomplishments, how communication influences the opportunities we create, and why believing in yourself doesn't mean feeling confident every single day. Patti also opens up about the pressure to perform, learning to separate her personal worth from her achievements, and discovering that progress matters far more than perfection. Along the way, she challenges the idea that a successful presentation is about flawless delivery. Instead, she introduces her concept of "resultation," communicating with intention and focusing on the outcome rather than the performance. Because sometimes the biggest obstacle isn't a lack of ability. It's learning to believe in what you're already capable of doing. Put Your Emotions in Motion: Stop getting in your own way | Gabriel Nohra

What if changing your perspective starts by getting yourself in motion? Gabriel Nohra’s story begins in Beirut, Lebanon, where he lived through civil war and discovered something that would remain central throughout his life: music. What began as a source of protection eventually became a career that took him from Beirut to Paris and across more than 60 countries. He became a musician, composer and producer, working with artists and audiences around the world. Along the way, his curiosity about the mind led him into hypnosis, different states of consciousness, and the relationship between music, emotion and human behavior. In this conversation with Shaindel Marcus, Gabriel shares how those seemingly different parts of his life eventually came together. They talk about what happens when we replay difficult experiences in our minds, why creativity can create space for a different perspective, the role movement has played throughout Gabriel’s life, and why he believes trust, clarity and discernment matter when deciding what comes next. Gabriel also shares two simple practices he uses to interrupt stress: breathing and stepping outside the moment long enough to observe what is happening from another perspective. From surviving war to producing music, studying the mind and working with thousands of people, Gabriel’s story is ultimately one of movement, curiosity and refusing to remain in one place simply because life put you there.
