The Conflict Archive Dialogues

The Archive Network

The Conflict Archive Dialogues is part of The Archive Network by Jonkai Ventures, a collection of podcasts dedicated to the stories that shaped our world.    Every episode is a conversation. Aurelius and Malik, curators of The Conflict Archive, take a single war — the Seven Years' War, the English Civil War, the Invasion of Poland, Afghanistan 2001-2021 — and follow it from the first grievance to the terms of the peace. One lays out how it was fought and decided: the alliance that held, the supply line that didn't, the choice that only looks obvious afterwards. The other presses on what the campaign map leaves out — who was conscripted, what the victory actually settled, and what it merely postponed.    These are not summaries. Each episode is one complete war, examined from both sides in a single sitting. The Archive Network is an independent, solo-run project. Every archive, podcast and documentary is free — no ads, no paywalls. Ethiopian-Eritrean War

Dust swirls over forgotten markers as uneasy neighbors scan the horizon, each heartbeat echoing with the memory of war. In the lands between Ethiopia and Eritrea, the past never truly sleeps. Shadows move where borders blur, and fear can flare with a single spark.Imagine waking to find your world changed overnight—a new fence, a blocked well, the laughter of children silenced by distant gunfire. This is Badme, a crossroads of memory and suspicion, where the weight of history presses on every step. In nineteen ninety-one, Eritrean fighters celebrated in Asmara after driving out the Derg dictatorship. Ethiopia, under Meles Zenawi, recognized Eritrean independence in nineteen ninety-three. For a moment, hope glimmered. But the border remained a wound, never clearly drawn, where villages, wells, and market roads followed the tangled lines of old maps and older grievances. Each morning, farmers from both sides led their cattle to graze, always watching for uniforms that did not belong. Children fetched water, their games interrupted by sudden patrols. The land was quiet, but never truly safe. The peace, it turned out, was as fragile as the dry soil beneath their feet.Aurelius and Malik take on this case in full — 5 chapters, 35 minutes, one complete story.Learn more at: https://theconflictarchive.com/conflict/ethiopian-eritrean-warThe Conflict Archive Dialogues is part of The Archive Network by Jonkai Ventures. Great Turkish War

Imagine a city standing alone, its stone walls guarding the gateway to Europe, while the might of an empire looms on the horizon. The year is sixteen eighty-three, and Vienna’s fate could decide the future of an entire continent. Shadows are lengthening, and something is about to break.Across the lands of Europe, an uneasy silence reigns. The Ottoman Empire stretches from the deserts of Arabia to the cold rivers of Hungary. Its armies have marched for centuries, pushing farther north and west, their banners fluttering above conquered cities and distant frontiers. Yet beneath the surface, cracks are starting to show. The Ottomans rule over Hungarians, Serbs, Greeks, and Croats, all held together by force and fear. In Vienna, the Habsburgs watch warily, remembering burned villages and ruined churches. Their own realm is divided—Holy Roman princes feuding, religious tensions simmering after decades of war. The scars of the Thirty Years’ War are still fresh, and suspicion lingers between Protestant and Catholic neighbors.Aurelius and Malik take on this case in full — 5 chapters, 35 minutes, one complete story.Learn more at: https://theconflictarchive.com/conflict/great-turkish-warThe Conflict Archive Dialogues is part of The Archive Network by Jonkai Ventures. Jewish-Roman Wars

The air over Jerusalem is heavy, thick with heat and tension. You can almost feel it—resentment simmering just beneath the surface, ready to explode. In the alleys and courtyards, something dangerous is brewing, and the world is about to change forever. It’s the summer of sixty-six, and Judea is a land ruled by Rome, but never truly conquered. The empire’s crimson banners wave above ancient stones, but the people below chafe under foreign rule. Roman governors parade through the streets, sneering at Jewish customs. Taxes are high, respect is in short supply, and every insult from the authorities cuts deeper than the last.Aurelius and Malik take on this case in full — 5 chapters, 35 minutes, one complete story.Learn more at: https://theconflictarchive.com/conflict/jewish-roman-warsThe Conflict Archive Dialogues is part of The Archive Network by Jonkai Ventures. North African Campaign

A relentless sun beats down on the endless dunes. Somewhere, far from Europe’s thunder, armies gather and ancient cities hold their breath. The desert is silent, but tension crackles in the air.Across North Africa in the summer of nineteen forty, the world is about to change. The Mediterranean has become a lifeline and a battleground, drawing the eyes of empires hungry for oil and power. In Libya, Mussolini dreams of a new Roman glory, while the British cling to Egypt and the Suez Canal, their most precious artery. The sand, once crossed by Roman legions and Bedouin caravans, now braces for tanks and bombers. Days bring a blazing, bone-white glare, burning skin and hope alike. Nights offer little comfort—just cold winds that cut through tents and uniforms, chilling the men who wait for orders.Aurelius and Malik take on this case in full — 5 chapters, 33 minutes, one complete story.Learn more at: https://theconflictarchive.com/conflict/north-african-campaignThe Conflict Archive Dialogues is part of The Archive Network by Jonkai Ventures.
