Why Do I Feel Guilty for Finally Choosing Me?

If you are a Christian woman who has finally started choosing yourself but still feels guilty every time you do, this conversation is for you. Maybe you said no and immediately felt bad about it. Maybe you stopped explaining yourself. Maybe you decided you could not keep carrying the relationship, fixing the problem, answering every call, showing up for everybody, or sacrificing your peace just to keep someone else comfortable. And even though you know something needed to change, part of you still wonders, “Am I being selfish?” In this episode of EESHAH with Arrin Alexa, we are talking about the guilt that can come when a woman who has spent years putting everyone else first finally begins making room for herself. Because when you have been the dependable one, the helper, the giver, the peacemaker, the fixer, or the woman everyone expects to show up, choosing yourself can feel uncomfortable. Especially when the people around you were comfortable with the version of you who never said no. Through Scripture and the leading of the Holy Spirit, we are going deeper into the difference between selfishness and stewardship, why boundaries can trigger guilt, and how to recognize when guilt is trying to pull you back into a version of yourself Elohim is calling you out of. You will also leave this episode with something practical to help you when guilt shows up: Pause. Examine it. Choose anyway. Ask yourself: Did I do something wrong, or did I simply do something different? Because feeling guilty does not always mean you are guilty. Sometimes it simply means you are learning a new way to live. If you are tired of abandoning yourself to keep everybody else happy, questioning every boundary you set, or feeling responsible for how other people respond to your decisions, this conversation is for you. Choosing yourself does not mean you stopped loving everyone else. It may simply mean you are finally learning that you are someone Elohim entrusted you to care for too. Maybe this season is not asking you to keep proving how much you can sacrifice. Maybe it is teaching you that choosing yourself can be an act of obedience too. 🎧 EESHAH with Arrin Alexa — Cultivating Women in Every Season If this conversation spoke to you, subscribe to the channel and turn on notifications so you don’t miss the next episode. Why Is It So Hard to Let Someone Show Up for You?

Why is it so difficult to receive love, support, and help, even when you have prayed for someone to finally show up for you? In this episode of EESHAH with Arrin Alexa, we are uncovering what happens when rejection, abandonment, neglect, betrayal, and distrust follow you into adulthood. You may deeply desire partnership, yet still struggle to believe that someone will remain consistent. You may ask for help, but when it comes, you question it, resist it, criticize it, or quietly prepare yourself to be disappointed. Sometimes the problem is not that help never arrived. The problem is that pain trained you not to recognize it, trust it, or receive it. Maybe you learned early that your needs would not be prioritized. Perhaps you were not the favored child, affection felt inconsistent, or you learned to overcompensate just to be noticed. Some wounds may have entered through unhealthy relationships or sexual experiences where rejection, shame, fear, distrust, or abandonment became connected to intimacy. The experience may have ended, but the emotions remained packed inside an invisible suitcase that traveled with you into relationships, friendships, marriage, and even the way you see yourself. Now someone can genuinely be trying to show up for you, but you are responding through the eyes of what happened before. In this conversation, we are going deeper into how unresolved pain can make healthy love feel unfamiliar, why receiving help can sometimes feel more uncomfortable than doing everything yourself, and how to recognize when yesterday’s wounds are influencing today’s relationships. Through Scripture and the leading of the Holy Spirit, we will also begin dismantling the emotional suitcase of rejection, abandonment, neglect, betrayal, and distrust so that when Elohim sends healthy support into your life, you are able to recognize it and receive it. Today’s EESHAH takeaway will help you: Name the wound. Separate the past from the present. Release what no longer belongs to you. Receive what is being offered without immediately expecting it to disappear. Because sometimes healing is not only learning how to survive what hurt you. Sometimes healing is learning how to receive what you prayed for. 🎧 EESHAH with Arrin Alexa — Cultivating Women in Every Season If this conversation spoke to you, subscribe to the channel and turn on notifications so you don’t miss the next episode.
