Testament of Gullah Jack with Zack Lyde gives voice to justice, truth, and the histories that history left out.

  1. Episode 1

When to Surrender with Tony Baker

In the series premiere, Zack Lyde "Gullah Jack" sits down with longtime friend Tony Baker to ask what it costs a man, and a people, to surrender. The conversation moves from family history and military service to a frank reckoning with power, nonviolence, and the 2010 killing of Caroline Small by Glynn County, GA police, a case now the subject of ongoing federal litigation. Content note: strong language and discussion of police violence.

  2. Episode 2

Caste in a New Light with Jeana Brown

The "T" episode of Zack Lyde's four-part STOP series turns to terrorism. Rev. Zack Lyde sits down with organizer Jeana Brown, whose path crossed his at a 2010 KKK rally in Nahunta, Georgia — she a lone counter-protester, he leading a group of local men. Fifteen years later, they trace that day through faith, fear, courage, and the politics of rural Georgia, and land on a shared reverence for the women — from labor organizer Mother Jones to Stacey Abrams — who shaped them both. Content note: strong language and discussion of racial violence/threat.

  3. Episode 3

The Smell of Money with Megan Desrosiers and Marilyn Lyde

The "P" episode of Zack Lyde's four-part STOP framework turns to pollution. One Hundred Miles founder Megan Desrosiers and Brunswick native Marilyn Lyde join Zack to trace Glynn County's toxic legacy — four federal Superfund sites, a banned pesticide called Toxaphene, and a wartime chemical manufacturer whose reach extended from coastal Georgia to Vietnam. A conversation about environmental justice, memory, and what "acceptable for use" really means.

  4. Episode 4

Cutting Off the Grouper Head with Amir Jamal Toure

Zack Lyde sits down with Savannah historian and educator Amir Jamal Toure for a conversation that moves from Zack's own account of commanding troops in Vietnam to the Civil War's final campaign on the Georgia coast — the burning of Darien, the betrayal at Ebenezer Creek, and the Savannah meeting that produced Special Field Order No. 15 ("40 acres and a mule"). The two land on a running metaphor for cultural erosion: the shift from eating a whole fish, head and eyes included, to filets — and what else gets thrown away along the way.   Content note: strong language and references to historical violence.
