Title: The Story Behind YourRecruiter: Falling Into Recruitment and Finding My Purpose | Elisa Papala-Schlaman

What happens when the career you end up loving was never actually part of the plan? In this episode of The YourRecruiter Podcast, the roles are reversed as Mpho Modisha interviews me about the journey behind YourRecruiter, the career that shaped me, and how I found purpose in helping people grow. We talk about starting out in a call centre, finding my way into HR through an unexpected opportunity, falling into recruitment, and what almost a decade in Talent Acquisition has taught me about careers, confidence, leadership and developing people. I also share the parts of the journey that have not always been visible, and how my career gradually evolved from recruiting people into something much bigger, coaching, developing, creating opportunities and helping others believe in what is possible for their own careers. For me, that is where purpose became clear. It was never only about filling roles. It was about people. Helping someone get their first opportunity, build confidence, grow into a career, or see something in themselves that they may not have seen before. This conversation is for anyone who feels like they should have their entire career figured out already, or who is trying to understand what purpose looks like in their own life. Sometimes purpose does not arrive as one big moment. Sometimes you discover it through the work you keep being drawn back to, the people you feel called to help, and the impact you want to keep creating. I hope this helps.

From Barber to Business Leader : The Story Behind The Legends Barber Franchise | Sheldon Tatchell

What does it really take to turn a skill into a business, and a business into a brand that creates opportunities for others? In this episode of The YourRecruiter Podcast, I sit down with Sheldon Tatchell, Founder and CEO of Legends Barber, for an honest conversation about entrepreneurship, leadership, growth and building something from very humble beginnings. We talk about starting with very little, learning through setbacks, building a brand people trust, scaling through franchising, and what it takes to move from working in the business to leading it. Sheldon also shares what he has learned about customer experience, developing other barbers, creating opportunity, continuing to learn as a business leader, and why entrepreneurship is about much more than just having a good idea. This conversation is for anyone who wants to start something of their own, turn a skill into a career, or needs a reminder that where you start does not have to determine where you end up. You do not need perfect conditions to begin. You need the courage to start, the discipline to keep learning, and the willingness to keep building. I hope this helps.

We talk about navigating uncertainty, the pressure to have a plan, finding confidence when you’re still learning, and building a career when you don’t necessarily know what the end destination looks like yet.
