If You Own It, You Ought Know About It. Ron Stultz Suggestion

Once upon a time, nothing was built or made to be thrown away. No, it was repaired. And as money was always tight, many had to do their own repairs which meant they had to know something about what they owned. One of my Grandfathers was a farmer and he owned several big farm tractors. When something broke, could not haul it into town for a mechanic and mechanics did not come out to farms, so he had to repair it himself. No, you are not a farmer and even have a bit of money but if you know nothing about the things you own, you are at the mercy of the services community. What things?  Air conditioning, dishwashers, water  faucets, your car, windows, doors, eclectic outlets, circuit breakers......we all have long lists. I am not saying you have to know how to repair everything BUT you should know simple stuff like replacing a filter or what is and what is not proper functioning. The Internet is a resource. Use it. Have a problem, use the net to look up what could be wrong. Try to understand and maybe even attempt a home repair but at least having some knowledge gives you an edge as an educated consumer when you do have to pay for service or a repair. Hunting: Deer, Squirrels, Rabbits. Family Traditions.

Grandfather had 4 sons. Grandfather was a farmer and poor. Hunting for meat was mandatory. In this family, there were traditions associated with hunting either individually or as a group. I think it important to share these traditions of these men when hunting really was for meat and not sport. Some traditions are funny, well most are but under it all, there was a united family tradition: hunting.  Trifocals: One Man's View Book for more.

Ron Stultz Reads "Carnival Hootchy Coochie" from his published Book Trifocals. One Man's View

A memory of what a County Fair was like in Shenandoah County Virginia in the late 1950's. But the real focus of this memory story is about the  Carnival Hootchy Coochie tent and what happened there after dark. When it got dark, a large tent set a good distance away from the fair carnival midway was lite up with bright lights and Carnival Hootchy Coochie women would dance on a stage in suggestive clothing and a barker would say that if you bought a ticket to the inside of the tent, you could see these beautiful women  take off all their clothes. And now, years later I describe it and wonder who were these women and where did they come from and other questions. Just a fun memory and ponder. Trifocals: One Man's View Book for more.

Ron Stultz Reads "The Crow" from His Published Book, "Trifocals. One Man's View"

A short story about a crow and a woman and how he wants to "own" her. A crow or a man? The woman scares him and he bolts and flies and clams and comes back to her again but at a safe viewing distance. Why is he so afraid of this woman? Why is his ownership of her so strong? Finally, the old crow has to get close and her words pour down over him and he can see that she only sees him for the old crow or man, he is and the thought helps him and he flies away.  But now and again, when he just sits and watches from high above, the memory of her invades his mind and once again, he really wants to own her. "Foolish Old Crow". Trifocals: One Man's View Book for more.
