Breathwork Healing Won’t Stick Without These 4 Pieces | Called to Facilitate Pt. 1

Jessica's cortisol dropped from about 250 to about 140 in six months of biweekly breathwork journeys, her Hashimoto's went away, and her progesterone and testosterone rose. No single technique did that. I changed her sessions every time, because the breath has to be chosen for the person in front of you. A nervous system stuck in dorsal vagal shutdown needs a different breath than an overstimulated one, and a calming 4-7-8 practiced daily can keep suppressing a system that is already down. That is why assessment is the core skill of a facilitator, and why this training is not for anyone after a quick certification, a one-size-fits-all technique, or a get-rich-quick business plan. I spent 22 years as a health coach with a degree in physiology, and my clients got great results while I had ulcers, thyroid issues, constant bloating, and an abusive marriage. A yoga class built around breath practices changed that, and I went on to learn pranayama, journeys, holotropic breathwork, Wim Hof, and rebirthing. I share the four pieces I think complete breathwork healing: awareness of your breath, journeys, daily practices, and community. I also cover the physiology behind them, including the vagus nerve, CO2 tolerance, and why your nervous system mirrors the people around you. I tell the story of my river-studio journey with the horse, the elders, and my great-grandmother speaking Shuswap, along with Rachel's fertility story. The path to teaching this work took me years and a hundred thousand dollars, which is why I built a training that covers the physiology, the psychology, and the safety, with over 52 techniques. I also list the signs you may already be preparing for this work: being the person others confide in, being fascinated by why people heal, and collecting modalities because you can't stop learning. Even one yes is a clue, not a qualification. More at GetLivingWithBreathWork.com. She Almost Didn't Make It - Now She's Helping Others Heal | Episode 2

Aleca Chambers spent decades as the peacekeeper, the designated driver, the person who held everything together while her own needs went unspoken. She was a meth addict in her earlier years, sober now for over twenty years. She moved with her husband to break free from drugs, and that worked, but life behind closed doors kept producing new coping mechanisms until betrayal finally broke the marriage apart. The accumulated weight of a lifetime of self-erasure became too heavy to hold, and she attempted suicide. Surviving it forced a question she had never seriously asked herself: what did she actually want? Breathwork gave her a place to find out. Her first session was a holotropic inner child session, and in the days after she noticed a little more clarity, a shift in how she communicated with her kids, a mind that felt less locked. Nearly three years of sessions later, she's learned to work with her own breath when intensity gets overwhelming, to slow down, let the fear surface, acknowledge it, and pick the pace back up. The real change, she says, happens in integration, the days after a session when a memory surfaces or a feeling comes up and she recognizes it as connected to what she processed on the mat. Aleca also talks about grief, specifically the grief of losing a self rather than a person, the little girl she was, the marriage she thought she had, the identity built around keeping other people okay. Breathwork hasn't eliminated that grief, but it's given her a place to feel it without holding it together for anyone else. She recently finished a bachelor's degree in psychology, is working toward her breathwork facilitator certification, and can now look in the mirror and tell herself she loves herself. She takes selfies now. She smiles more in photos. Published on Subwave https://subwave.app/@getlivingbreathwork/post/she-almost-didnt-make-it---now-shes-helping-others-heal--episode-2

From Toxic Marriage to Thriving Life | Welcome to the Get Living Podcast

Breathwork entered my life not as a wellness practice but as a survival tool during a toxic marriage. What started with pranayama, sitting and slowing my breath through sessions that felt like a good cry, pulled me into a deep study of breathwork science. My physiology degree meant I couldn't just feel the results and move on. I had to understand the mechanisms. What I found was that there are dozens of distinct techniques, each working on the body and nervous system differently, and that most programs teach only one while charging a fortune to certify in it. Chronic stress is not just anxiety or feeling wound up. It pulls the body's resources away from repair, digestion, and immune function. The parasympathetic nervous system, where your body actually heals, regrows, and replenishes, never gets activated when you're locked in fight-or-flight. Breathwork is one of the most direct tools we have for shifting that state, and a single session can move you from dysregulated to calm in minutes. I've watched clients eradicate suicidal thinking, and clients with Hashimoto's see their condition resolve after addressing the nervous system underneath everything else. Our nervous systems are built with mirror neurons, which means your own healing doesn't stay contained to you. When you walk into a room more regulated, the people around you begin to mirror that state without knowing anything about breathwork. My four kids started asking me which breaths to do when anxiety hit. They do the breaths. The anxiety goes away. This show covers the science, the practical techniques, and real client stories, so if you've searched up breathwork, tell me what you're dealing with and I'll bring you the episodes that actually address it.
