Ep. 5: Kayo and Miko the Snow Monkey 🐒 A calm animal story for kids

A calm audio story for children. Kayo lands in Japan and meets Miko the snow monkey, among cherry trees, raked sand gardens and a steaming pool. In Japan people bow to say hello. Kayo has no idea what bowing is, because penguins flap or shout. Then he finds a garden of white sand raked into neat wavy lines, and he puts one foot right in the middle of it. Trying to fix it makes it much worse: crooked lines, broken sticks, footprints everywhere, sand in his feathers. Miko does not shout. He says the sand can be drawn again, and he fetches a second rake. Then the rain comes, Miko goes off through the branches, Kayo runs after him across wet stones, slips, and toboggans down the whole hill on his belly into a hot spring full of monkeys. Twenty furry hands take hold of him and start grooming him like a car wash. Terrifying. And warm. What stays with Kayo afterwards is that Miko never shouted, not about the garden, not about anything. 🐧 Kayo the Penguin, season 1, episode 5 🎧 Audio story for kids · animal stories · calm listening · screen-free time ⏱ About 18 minutes. Ep. 4: Kayo and Kiki the Koala 🐨 A calm animal story for kids

A calm audio story for children. Kayo sails east to Australia, where the trees peel like paper and one small grey animal refuses to hurry. In this forest the animals do not walk, they hop. High on a branch Kayo spots a small grey fluffy thing doing absolutely nothing. He shouts at it. It does not answer. So he decides to get up there himself. He hugs the trunk and slides straight back down like a rubber duck in a bathtub. He takes a run-up, holds on for half a second, and lands with bark in his feathers and leaves on his head, looking like a small black and white bush. Then he builds a tower of five stones, climbs on, and the whole thing goes over, sending a dozen white cockatoos screeching out of the trees. In the end he sits down and waits, and Kiki comes down on her own, one slow paw at a time. Walking at her pace, Kayo starts seeing what he used to run past: orange and pink under the peeling bark, a green lizard that nods at him, and a kookaburra that lands beside him and laughs out loud. 🐧 Kayo the Penguin, season 1, episode 4 🎧 Audio story for kids · animal stories · calm listening · screen-free time ⏱ About 19 minutes. Ep. 3: Kayo and Zuza the Giraffe 🦒 A calm animal story for kids

A calm audio story for children. Kayo lands on a baking savannah, mistakes four giraffe legs for tree trunks, and meets Zuza, who eats from the very top. The sand is so hot that Kayo hops from one foot to the other, and his black tailcoat soaks up the sun like a sponge. He goes looking for shade and finds four thick trunks standing close together under a wide canopy. He leans back and closes his eyes. Then one of the trunks moves. A lion roars somewhere out on the plain and the whole savannah starts running: zebras, buffalo in clouds of dust, antelope springing over the grass. Zuza bends her neck down, Kayo climbs up between her little horns, and then he shoots upward like a lift as she straightens and runs. At the watering hole the water is warm and tastes of mud, and a zebra asks the penguin in the tailcoat to bring everyone a drink, waiter. The zebras also decide the lion was not hunting at all. He probably just sneezed. Kayo goes home with one idea: everyone has their own just right. 🐧 Kayo the Penguin, season 1, episode 3 🎧 Audio story for kids · animal stories · calm listening · screen-free time ⏱ About 18 minutes.
