    Spurgeon's Autobiography, 1

Though Spurgeon died before he could write an official autobiography, his wife and private secretary did the work for him by compiling the information from his sermons, letters, and other records. 2. Episode 2

    Spurgeon's Autobiography, 2

Spurgeon's minister grandfather ; God's provision ; Spurgeon's discovery of the Puritan writings ; How the child Spurgeon brought an old sinner to God. Fascinating looks into the early life of the "prince of preachers."

  3. Episode 3

    Spurgeon's Autobiography 3

Focus is still on Grandpa Spurgeon's soul-winning preaching ministry, and the chapel where it took place. A touch of Twain-style humor as Spurgeon recollects some of the mischief of his early days. Yet his love for God and grandpa was real.

  4. Episode 4

    Spurgeon's Autobiography, 4

Don't miss this one! Spurgeon tells of the prophecy of Richard Knill, of the London Missionary Society, to 6-year-old Charles. Amazing.

  5. Episode 5

    Spurgeon's Autobiography, 5

Spurgeon uses bits and pieces from his childhood to weave parables for our spiritual instruction. (Please note the following definitions for old English currency: 1 farthing = 1/4 penny. 240 pennies were in a pound, as were 20 shillings. A shilling was 12 pennies. "Pence" is the plural of "penny." Now you know.)

  6. Episode 6

    Spurgeon's Autobiography, 6

How the Church of England helped Spurgeon to become a Baptist! And other childhood tales, as the little boy becomes a young man.

  7. Episode 7

    Spurgeon's Autobiography, 7

15-year-old Charles Spurgeon, even before his spiritual rebirth, is aware enough of false religion to write a scathing rebuke of the Rome of his day and of the Middle Ages. One chapter of the essay he wrote is presented.

  8. Episode 8

    Spurgeon's Autobiography, 8

Spurgeon comes from a line of preachers and a godly home. His description of how it was in his youth at home will bring conviction to all but the godliest among us. Praying mother. Preaching father. Both united in raising this boy in the fear of God. Spurgeon then tells of some preachers he was privileged - or not - to hear as a boy.
