    The Coffin Knocker

You wake in the dark, six feet down. You knock three times. Something knocks back, from the box beside you. Season Three, The Legion of Blood Harvesters, opens with the Coffin Knocker. Best with headphones.

    The Quanta

The fourth door of Season Two opens on a room of a thousand screens. Somewhere among the numbers, one of them is watching you. A Poem Cast film, written and performed by Nathaniel Perry. Headphones on. Every door is free at nathanielperry.me/poem-cast.

    The Stoker

You think the lights come from the river. They come for you. Under the city, someone keeps the furnace. Every night you lie awake and burn a little: the worry, the want, the name you never said. Everyone gets the same terms: burn bright and be done by spring, or burn low and last a lifetime. Read by the Stoker, who is what's left when the fire is finished with a man.

    The Fusion Master

Beneath the Andes, past the oldest stairs, lie a hundred eighty billion boxes, each holding a mind still dreaming. From every one, a single amber thread, knotted and braided into an orb of minds that burns without a sun. It drinks them in, then pours them back, until there is no skin, no wall, no "me." You taste the salt a widow wept in Lima. Read by the Fusion Master, whose face is mostly light.

    The First Signal

No curse was carved above the door. They looked; they swore there wasn't one. Season Two begins with the descent below the Hall. Read by the Snake Man, the first of the drinkers.

    Intricacies of the Mind

Something arrives in the village of Marrow through the plumbing, and it is unfailingly polite. It pours the tea. It tells you not to mind the key. There is no blood anywhere in this poem and nobody dies — the village simply stops being several people and becomes one. Mind the gurgle in the night.

    Dark Corners of the Mind

Without the dark, no candle earns its name. An argument that the devil is load-bearing — not evil as a villain, but evil as the friction a climbing thing requires. Set, Ahriman, Tiamat, Loki, and the heretics burned for knowledge's sake. Read by a gargoyle, who has been outside for six hundred years and has had time to think about it.

    Recesses of the Mind

A retelling of Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart in which the thing under the floorboards is a phone. A boy tells his parents he lost it, scuffing it on the driveway first so it will look dropped. His mother hugs him. Would a crazy person have gotten the hug? Read by a vampire, who has watched a great many people be undone by an appetite they refused to give up.
