This Wylde Life S1E9 | Restoring the Whole Witch

Hey Wild Ones! In this episode, we explore the archetype of the witch - why it’s important to see her from all angles, so we can embrace her medicine (shadows and all). We talk about how to venerate your ancestors during the season of Samhain - which began at Halloween and goes until Winter Solstice. And we look at death and decomposition and why it’s so hard for us to slow down and embrace the fall into winter without rushing into the commercialized Christmas mayhem. I hope you’ll slow down with me on this one - take me for a walk in your ears as you contemplate the dying times of autumn… and the fall of patriarchal capitalism. This Wylde Life S1E8 | Holding on for dear life to the earth, the mother, and ritual

Hey Wild Ones! In this episode, we dive into why humans need things to hold onto, and how we can hold on to our humanity by holding onto the earth and reframing ancient rituals. We explore the deep regulation of darkness, mantra, prayer, meditation, and ritual. If you enjoy this episode, please leave me 5 stars on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and share this episode with a friend! This is your one wild and precious life, how will you lead it? Big love, Ellen Wylde P.S. On the evolution of the concept of ‘nature’ (I couldn’t find the actual podcast episode where I first heard this idea, so apologies if I misspoke in the episode); the book I reference is Waking Up To the Dark: Ancient Wisdom for a Sleepless Age by Clark Strand; the other one is The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary by Clark Strand and Perdita Finn; P.P.S. I want to apologize for the popping sounds that glitch in and out of the sound waves from time to time in this episode. I am investigating their origins and how to prevent them in the future, but if you have any ideas to offer, let me know! Get full access to This Wylde Life at ellengilbert.substack.com/subscribe

This Wylde Life S1E7 | Your Longing for the Village is Your Map Home

Hey Wild Ones! I really loved rambling with you in this one about the Village, what’s been lost in this Aquarian age of technology, and what we can still remember our way home to. I follow these tributaries towards plant lore as it emerges in my Maryland garden just before Samhain. And I share from vulnerable archives my own memories related to longing for belonging, and how I see trading the electric glow of artificial warmth for the true fires of belonging, carrying only a single glowing ember in my own heart’s hearth. If you enjoy this episode, please leave me 5 stars on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and share this episode with a friend! This is your one wild and precious life, how will you lead it? Big love, Ellen Wylde P.S. The mushroom I am talking about is amanita chrysoblema. The book I refer to is The Dream Atlas by Fiona Cook, Toko-Pa’s substack post I refer to is Coherence is a Skill. The Sarah Wildeman course I refer to is Our Common Life. Get full access to This Wylde Life at ellengilbert.substack.com/subscribe

This Wylde Life S1E6 | You Are Worthy of the Ask

Hey Wild Ones! We are continuing the relational party by digging deep into sovereign communication. This week we will unpack how patriarchal capitalism made it so hard for women to tap into their desires, and why asking for what you want and need is the key to healthy partnerships. We are not here to play small, fam! We are here to remember we are worthy of making the difficult ask. The only way to guarantee you won’t get the big, beautiful life of your dreams is by never asking for it. We cover attachment wounds, non-violent communication, boundaries, the history of collectively suppressing our desires, and the shadows that followed. This Wylde Life S1E5 | Friendships, Voice Notes, & Messy Houses

Hey Wild Ones! This week we’re diving into all things adult friendship: why the METHOD of communication sometimes matters more than the contents of the conversation, why having friends over to a messy house is key to building lasting relationships, and why it’s okay to drift towards friendships that feel good and away from ones that don’t. I believe the scaffolding behind our adult friendships is one of the most important topics we rarely talk about, and it’s time to pull back the curtain and have the conversation! This Wylde Life S1E4 | The Lessons of the Pawpaw

Hello wild fam, Thanks for being here. In this episode, I share my gateway tale into the wild world of foraging. Pawpaw is sometimes called the “Kentucky banana,” and is the largest fruit native to North America and the only native tropical fruit here. This fantastically elusive and mysterious plant is typically only found in the wild for a few days each September when the ripe fruit falls from the trees with ease, before the wildlife get to it. It is all about timing, patience, dedication, and paying attention to one’s surroundings. This story encompasses lessons for our manifestation journey and non-attachment, and is a personal full-circle heroine’s journey. I hope you enjoy and begin to befriend the green beings all around us, who love us so much and are always rooting for us. This Wylde Life S1E3 | The Period as Resistance

Hello loves, Thanks for being here. In this episode we talk about the power of the menstrual cycle as divination, resistance, rest, creativity, and medicine for the people. I believe we need more period conversations, so let’s bring the experiences of half the population out of the shadows. I also thought I’d share my day one cacao recipe for the next time you enter the period cave: 1 part coconut milk, 1 part oat milk Bring to a simmer on the stove Add rose petals, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom Simmer spices in milk for 5 minutes, stirring constantly (Breathe in the magic. Set your intentions. Stir clockwise to lock them into the potion.) Strain the spices, return milk to heat Whisk in honey, vanilla, salt Whisk in 1.5-2 tablespoons cacao powder Pour into your favorite mug Top with cacao nibs, rose petals, and cinnamon Enjoy while divining messages from your mother line ancestors May the red thread of your bleed weave you into the tapestry of ancient mothers and grandmothers, so you may hear and feel their messages of love and power flowing through you. This Wylde Life S1E2 | You NEED a solo adventure

Hello lovies! This week I share the tale of my two-night solo adventure in Shenandoah National Park, including kayaking 7 miles alone, cold plunging with a snake, and sleeping in a bear’s den. I meet other women who are on their big adventures later in life urging us to NOT wait! This episode is for anyone who has wanted to take a wilderness adventure alone, but just needs that little boost to get them on the trail. I also discuss the multi-billion dollar fashion, diet, and beauty industries that prey on us to hate ourselves so we will spend money to line someone else’s pockets, and how we can start deprogramming ourselves today. Don’t forget to leave us a 5-star review and share with a friend so we can grow this little podcast! And leave a comment letting me know what your next big adventure will be! Big love! This Wylde Life S1E1 | Receiving is a Mirror

Hellooooo! I started a podcast! Zero clue what I’m doing, but I know I love using my voice to be a channel and share wisdom and musings. This will be completely random, as I commit to using the mic to talk about WHATEVER I want. I hope you’ll listen in and find an energy boost, a truth mirror, and a path back home to your WILD nature! My deepest ambition is to light people up, be a professional hype woman, and hold your feet to the fire of your passion, your audacity, and your FULLEST dream! Plus I’ll be sharing dispatches from my journey as a therapist-in-training, raver, wannabe DJ, artist, community builder, facilitator, ritualist, wife of a coffee roaster, and so many things I get to be in this life! In this first episode, you get an introduction to who the eff I am, my name change journey, the ridiculous party I threw for myself, and why it’s so important to let ourselves RECEIVE so others can ask for exactly what they want too. You also get the story of my plant path initiation with mugwort, so you can expect plenty of green witchcraft in this show! If you listen in, let me know what you think!
