You Know What’s Strange?

Tyler Maicach

You Know What’s Strange? dives into the real stories that sit just outside the ordinary. True crime. Unexplained mysteries. Paranormal encounters. Cryptids. Cults. Bizarre history. Strange science. Disasters. And real events that sound almost impossible. Each episode takes one story and digs into what happened, what we actually know, the evidence, the theories, and the details that still don’t quite make sense. Some stories are disturbing. Some are unbelievable. Some are just fascinating. But every one of them leaves you asking the same thing: You know what’s strange?

    USS Nimitz Tic Tac

In November 2004, the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group was conducting training exercises off the coast of Southern California when Navy personnel began detecting something strange. Radar operators aboard the USS Princeton were tracking unusual objects that seemed to be moving in ways they couldn’t easily explain. Eventually, fighter pilots were sent out to investigate. What they encountered would become one of the most famous UFO — or UAP — cases ever made public. Commander David Fravor and Lieutenant Commander Alex Dietrich reported seeing a smooth, white object hovering above disturbed water below them. It had no visible wings, no obvious engines, and no exhaust. Fravor later described it as looking like a giant Tic Tac. When he moved toward it, the object appeared to react. And then it was gone. But the encounter didn’t end there. More Navy aircraft were sent out. Infrared footage was captured. Years later, that footage leaked online, and the U.S. Department of Defense eventually confirmed that the videos were authentic Navy recordings. In Episode 04 of You Know What’s Strange?, we go back through the entire USS Nimitz Tic Tac encounter from the beginning. We’ll talk about: The strange radar contacts that started before the pilots ever saw anything. Who the pilots were and why they were flying that day. What David Fravor and the other aviators say they witnessed. The mysterious disturbance in the ocean underneath the object. The famous Tic Tac encounter itself. The infrared video recorded afterward. What the Navy and Department of Defense have officially acknowledged. And the possible explanations for what happened off the California coast in 2004. Was it some kind of advanced military technology? Could radar, sensors, or perspective explain parts of the encounter? Or did several trained Navy personnel witness something that still doesn’t have a convincing explanation? Whatever the answer is, the USS Nimitz incident remains one of the strangest and most heavily discussed military UAP encounters ever reported. So what exactly was flying above the Pacific that day? This is the story of the USS Nimitz Tic Tac Incident. 🎙️ You Know What’s Strange? — Episode 04 True crime. Bizarre history. Paranormal encounters. Cryptids. Unexplained mysteries. Strange science. Disasters. And stories that sound too weird to be true.
