    BASEBALL Dodgers beat Braves 2-1 behind Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s 7 innings, 10 Ks and 1 run allowed. Kike Hernandez and Freddie Freeman homered. Dodgers lead NLDS 2-1. Game 4 tonight. Padres beat Brewers 4-3 to force Game 4. Jake Cronenworth hit the go-ahead homer; Michael King closed out the win with the Padres without Mason Miller. BASKETBALL (WNBA) Atlanta’s Allisha Gray will miss Game 2 vs. New York with a left-hand injury suffered in Game 1. The Dream lead the semifinal series 1-0. FUTBOL INTERNATIONALE Spain rallied past Croatia 2-1, with Mikel Merino scoring twice, including the 89th-minute winner. Spain is unbeaten in 42 matches. Harry Kane scored twice as England beat Czechia 3-0; his 125th cap ties Peter Shilton for England’s record. TENNIS Novak Djokovic won his seventh China Open title after Alex de Minaur retired with a groin injury. Djokovic remains unbeaten at the tournament with 34 straight wins. Carlos Alcaraz won the Japan Open, beating Jiri Lehecka 7-6, 6-4 to defend his title in his second tournament after a 4½-month injury layoff. HOCKEY (NHL) No. 1 pick Gavin McKenna scored his first NHL goal as Toronto beat Nashville 5-4 in OT. Alexis Lafreniere scored a hat trick as the Rangers beat the Islanders 5-2, improving to 3-0 at home. Matthew Tkachuk’s third-period goal gave Florida a 2-1 win over Los Angeles, leaving the Kings winless. Brad Marchand left with a leg injury. FOOTBALL (NFL) Philadelphia’s running-back depth is thin: Tank Bigsby goes to IR after core-muscle surgery and Saquon Barkley is week-to-week with a hamstring injury. Will Shipley is the only healthy RB on the active roster. FOOTBALL (COLLEGE) No. 15 Tennessee is reportedly turning to George MacIntyre at QB against Arkansas, replacing injured Faizon Brandon.     Browns 27, Steelers 24: Cleveland won on Andre Szmyt’s 56-yard field goal with 10 seconds left. Denzel Ward’s interception sparked 21 unanswered points. Aaron Rodgers threw for 299 yards and 3 TDs but had 2 INTs; Cleveland is 3-1 and leads the AFC North. MLB Atlanta beat Philadelphia to win the final NL Wild Card series. Michael Harris II hit a 3-run homer, with Ozzie Albies and Matt Olson also going deep. The Braves face the Dodgers in the NLDS Saturday at 4 p.m. ET. WNBA A’ja Wilson scored 36 points with 10 rebounds as Las Vegas beat Indiana 94-83 to reach the second round. Chelsea Gray added 23 points. Angel Reese was named 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league with 12.1 rebounds per game and setting league records with 521 total and 206 offensive rebounds. NBA Jalen Duren agreed to a fully guaranteed 5-year, $200 million contract with Detroit, ending a four-month contract standoff. NHL Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin became the first goalie in franchise history to score, adding an empty-net goal in New York’s 5-1 win over Tampa Bay. He is the 18th goalie in NHL history to score. Edmonton beat Vancouver 9-7, with Connor McDavid recording a goal and four assists. Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard each had a goal and two assists.
