Ugh, Now I Hate GLP-1s! When Weight Loss Goes Too Far

Olenka loves GLP-1 medications. So why is she suddenly saying she hates them? After seeing two women whose weight loss had gone further than she felt was healthy, Olenka found herself questioning what can happen when a powerful tool starts working a little too well. In this candid episode, she talks about GLP-1 weight loss, the complicated relationship women have with their bodies, and why responsible treatment has to be about more than simply getting smaller. This isn’t an anti-GLP-1 conversation. It’s an honest look at the other side of the story and the moments that make Olenka stop, reassess, and have a very different conversation with her patients. In this episode, we discuss: • What happens when GLP-1 weight loss goes too far • Why eating less doesn’t always mean healthier • The signs Olenka watches for in patients using GLP-1 medications • How weight loss can unexpectedly affect the way women see themselves • Why ongoing support matters just as much as the prescription Medical Disclaimer: The information provided on this website, podcast, and community, including The Well Women and all related content, is for general educational and informational purposes only. What Is the Best Exercise for Women? Part 2: The One You’ll Actually Do

Consider this: the best exercise plan may not be the most optimized one, but the one you can actually keep doing. After recording Part 1 on her way to work, Olenka finishes her day with a patient who perfectly illustrates the problem with our all-or-nothing approach to exercise. She had lost 50 pounds, loved feeling strong, and then stopped when an intense workout routine no longer fit her life. What followed was weight regain, guilt, and the feeling that she had somehow failed. In this episode, Olenka challenges the idea that exercise has to include the perfect combination of cardio, strength training, steps, and structured workouts to “count.” Tune in as she shares practical ways to make movement sustainable, enjoyable, and realistic. This is your permission slip to stop chasing someone else’s exercise plan and start building one around your actual life. In this episode, we discuss: • Why all-or-nothing exercise routines can be difficult to sustain • How guilt and shame can sabotage your relationship with movement • Why one strength training session a week can be a meaningful place to start • Simple ways to add resistance training and “exercise snacks” into your existing routine • Why enjoyment, flexibility, and consistency matter more than having a perfect workout plan Medical Disclaimer: The information provided on this website, podcast, and community, including The Well Women and all related content, is for general educational and informational purposes only. What Is the Best Exercise for Women in Perimenopause?

What's the best exercise for women in perimenopause and menopause? Should you be lifting heavy, doing cardio, walking more, or squeezing in a HIIT workout? With so much conflicting advice about how women "should" exercise, it's easy for working out to become another source of guilt instead of something that actually makes you feel good. In this episode, Olenka gets personal about her own complicated relationship with exercise, from Jane Fonda and step classes to strength training and trying to work out with two young kids at home. She breaks down why resistance training becomes especially important as women age, how building muscle supports bone health, strength, and independence, and why the "best" workout is ultimately one that fits into your actual life.  Whether you're already active or haven't exercised in years, Olenka shares realistic ways to start moving without shame, including "exercise snacks," weighted walks, and simple strength training you can build into the day you're already living. In this episode, we discuss: • Why strength and resistance training become increasingly important during perimenopause and menopause • How building muscle supports bone health, mobility, and healthy aging • Why the best exercise routine is one that realistically fits into your life • How "exercise snacks" can make movement more approachable when you're starting from zero • Why separating exercise from weight loss can completely change your relationship with movement Resources Mentioned: • The Stimulated Mind by Dr. Tommy Wood: https://www.drtommywood.com/stimulated-mind • Heather Robertson: https://app.heatherrobertson.com/auth/signup?via=thewellwomen • Weighted Vest: https://link.amazon/B0j5NvWpU Medical Disclaimer: The information provided on this website, podcast, and community, including The Well Women and all related content, is for general educational and informational purposes only. GLP-1 Medications Explained (Part 2): Food Noise, Addiction & Inflammation

What if GLP-1 medications could do more than support weight loss? In Part 2 of this GLP-1 series, Olenka explores some of the most exciting areas of emerging research surrounding medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound. From reducing inflammation and quieting food noise to their potential role in addiction, alcohol use, and metabolic health, she explains why these medications are generating so much interest far beyond obesity.  She also discusses the differences between GLP-1 and dual GLP-1/GIP medications, common side effects, medication costs, and how she works with patients to find an individualized approach that fits both their health goals and lifestyle. In this episode, we discuss: • How GLP-1 medications may help reduce inflammation throughout the body • Why many patients experience less food noise, fewer cravings, and reduced alcohol consumption • The emerging research on GLP-1 medications on addiction and other chronic conditions • The differences between Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound • How medication choice, dosing, side effects, and cost influence treatment decisions Medical Disclaimer: The information provided on this website, podcast, and community, including The Well Women and all related content, is for general educational and informational purposes only. GLP-1 Medications Explained (Part 1): Ozempic, Wegovy, Food Noise & More

Ozempic. Wegovy. Mounjaro. Chances are you've heard people talking about GLP-1 medications, but what do they actually do beyond helping people lose weight? And why are researchers studying them for conditions far beyond obesity? In this episode, Olenka breaks down the science behind GLP-1 medications in a way that's easy to understand while sharing her own experience trying a microdose herself. From explaining food noise and appetite regulation to exploring the growing research around inflammation, metabolic health, Alzheimer's, and addiction, she unpacks why these medications are generating so much excitement in medicine.  Whether you're simply curious or wondering if a GLP-1 medication could be right for you, this conversation offers an evidence-based look at what they are, how they work, and why they're about much more than the number on the scale. In this episode, we discuss: • What GLP-1 medications are and how they work in the body • Why Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound aren't just "weight loss drugs" • What food noise is and why reducing it can be life-changing • Why researchers are studying GLP-1 medications for inflammation, Alzheimer's, addiction, and other health conditions • Olenka's personal experience microdosing a GLP-1 medication and what she learned from it Medical Disclaimer: The information provided on this website, podcast, and community, including The Well Women and all related content, is for general educational and informational purposes only. "Here, How About an Antidepressant?" When Hormones Are the Real Issue

"You seem stressed. How about we try an antidepressant?" For many women navigating perimenopause, hormone changes, or postpartum recovery, this conversation feels all too familiar. While antidepressants can be life-changing and absolutely have an important place in healthcare, they aren't always addressing the root cause of why a woman suddenly doesn't feel like herself. In this episode, Olenka unpacks one of the most common patterns she sees in clinic: women whose depression, anxiety, low motivation, or emotional changes are actually symptoms of underlying hormonal shifts. She explains why these symptoms deserve a deeper conversation, how hormones can influence mood, and why treating the whole person instead of a single symptom can make all the difference. If you've ever been told your bloodwork is normal, been prescribed medication without discussing your hormones, or felt like something was being missed, this episode is for you. In this episode, we discuss: • Why depression and anxiety can sometimes be symptoms rather than the root cause • How hormone changes during perimenopause and postpartum can affect mood and motivation • Why antidepressants are incredibly valuable but aren't always the complete answer • The importance of looking at the whole picture instead of treating one symptom in isolation • How personalized hormone care can help women feel like themselves again Medical Disclaimer: The information provided on this website, podcast, and community, including The Well Women and all related content, is for general educational and informational purposes only. Where Do You Start in Women's Health? Finding the Right Care

You've been told your bloodwork is normal. You've been advised to eat well, exercise, reduce stress, and "keep an eye on it." But what happens when you still don't feel like yourself? In this episode, Olenka answers one of the most common questions she receives: Where do I even start? Welcome to The Well Women; a health, hormone optimization, and wellness podcast that takes you inside my journey to help women feel heard, validated, informed and ultimately amazing in their bodies again.  I’m Olenka, an Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner turned women’s wellness and hormone health specialist. I want to take you into my clinic so you can see and hear the conversations I have with patients, their frustrations, their stories and their transformations to show you that you’re not alone in this.  Not just perimenopause and menopause, but everything from irregular cycles, hormone imbalance, GLP1 medications, peptides, lifestyle, botox and medical aesthetics, nothing is off the table.  This is a space for validation, honesty, hope and excitement that you can feel better too. There is no gatekeeping about treatments, services or medications and I will try to bridge evidence-based medicine with my real-life experiences while stripping away the hype, trends, fear and misinformation around women’s health and hormones.
