    The Panty Crafting Tree

On this episode of Emotional Damage! The boys settle the forensic score on their Halloween homework! After weeks of slow-burn dread and freak umbrella accidents, Zach and Ron dissect the chaotic, blood-soaked finale of Another. Meanwhile, Ron faces the music on Zach's homework assignment: Please Put Them On, Takamine-san! "man-hands," drifting facial features, and wildly fluctuating cup sizes, Ron breaks down the horrifying logistics of consumable underwear and weaponized rom-com denial. But the philosophical tables turn when Zach needs two full viewings and a Wikipedia emergency rescue just to survive the metaphysical dread of Mamoru Oshii’s 1995 cyberpunk titan, Ghost in the Shell! Plus: • The Calmest Asthma Attack in History: A teenager wheezes on the floor of a burning mansion while the librarian casually chauffeurs him through a slasher massacre. • Underwear Crafting Trees: Why time-traveling panties obey strict RPG consumable-item economics. • Cyberfucking & Black-Market Rebirth: How Ghost in the Shell birthed The Matrix, Marvel's Vision, and the existential crisis of buying faces off the rack. • The Tactical Curse with City Limits: Why dying to a motorboat propeller only counts if your heart stops inside municipal boundaries. Grab a cold beer, and stay damaged. This week on Emotional Damage! Armed with listener analytics, Zach and Ron waste zero time diving into their blood-soaked Halloween Double Feature! Zach dives headfirst into the looping nightmare of Higurashi: When They Cry (2006), surviving thirteen episodes of brutal throat-clawing, janky animation, and fried dubbing to construct a master theory. Give Me Some Foreplay, Dude!

Next on Emotional Damage! Ron hands Zach the reins to Studio Trigger’s explosive cult classic, Kill la Kill. But when talking sailor suits, a totalitarian high-school caste system, and weaponized shame collide with 1970s ecchi slapstick, will Zach buy into Trigger’s chaotic satirical vision—or will the relentless sensory overload push his patience to the brink? Meanwhile, Zach tests Ron with the paranormal frenzy of Dandadan. Armed with his infamous, ruthless "Ten-Minute Rule," Ron dives into the pilot demanding narrative foreplay, proper character build-up, and romantic nuance. Can Science SARU’s wild collision of alien abductions, Turbo Grannies, and stolen anatomy survive Ron’s strict internal timer, or is his golden rule about to face its biggest challenge yet? Plus: The Heirloom Heist: Ron redesigns a family divorce table with SketchUp and Nicaraguan labor—and triggers a sibling meltdown.Live PC Face-Off: Zach’s 16-core Linux battle station goes toe-to-toe with Ron’s 4GB laptop to determine who can properly render Korean MMO graphics. The Hentai Animation Audit: Ron breaks down the geometric failures, terrible color palettes, and anatomical mysteries of adult anime.Halloween Preview: The docket gets locked for next week's spooky double feature.Grab a cold beer, boot up your rig, and stay damaged. 00:00 - Ergonomics, Boom Mics & The Repurposed Heirloom Desk 07:16 - Artisan Anime, The Coppersmith's Bride & Baki "Bone Training" 10:35 - Mexico City Dispatch: El Chopo Market & 65,000 at Iron Maiden 14:47 - The Djent Dandadan Theme Concept 15:46 - Kill la Kill: Life Fibers, Fascist School Clubs & Scissor Blades 20:04 - Zach's Review: High-Minded Metaphor vs. Sensory Overload 25:50 - Satsuki's Motives & Studio Trigger's Unhinged Escalation 29:32 - Dandadan: The Ten-Minute Test & The "Narrative Foreplay" Problem 33:34 - Acro-Silky, Haunted Mountains & Pacing Shifts 35:58 - Character Design Audits: Possum Okarun & Grandma Seiko 41:31 - Ron's Dandadan Verdict: Action, Romance & World-Building 43:29 - The Unskipped Turbo Granny Cat Outro 47:41 - The Ten-Minute Rule on Trial: Are Great Shows Being Missed? 52:21 - Studio Interruption: Construction Worker with a Hose 52:50 - The Hentai Dissertation: Why Adult Anime Looks Like Ass 57:38 - Anatomy 101: Questionable Geometry & Glowing Rods 01:01:23 - The Aion 2 Rabbit Hole & Korean Character Creators 01:02:52 - PC Specs Face-Off: 16-Core Linux Rig vs. 4GB Laptop 01:08:41 - Aeni Breakdown & Mid-Show Beer Break 01:10:35 - Halloween Special Announcement: Higurashi (2006) & Another 01:14:22 - The AI Debate: Sentient Calculators vs. Sinking Data Centers 01:18:32 - Ghost in the Shell Themes vs. Blade Runner 01:21:57 - Zach's Next Assignment: Please Put Them On, Takamine-san 01:26:51 - 30 YouTube Views & Autographs in Water-Based Ink

Ain't No Angel Gon' Roll Up on Me Vato!

What starts as an innocent check-in on defrosted snake dinners and neighborhood cat territory disputes quickly spirals into full anime chaos. Zach is seven episodes deep into Neon Genesis Evangelion, discovering the legendary 90s Texas dub where Misato speaks fluent Tex-Mex street slang and giant geometric shapes scream Japan into a blackout. Meanwhile, Ron issues a harsh "DNF out of 10" to Toradora!, sparking a debate over high-school yearning, zoning laws, and whether driving an EVA is just a metaphor for therapy. Shinkai Train Delays, Roller-Skating Mechs & Zero Dogs

This week, we trade homework assignments, question the train scheduling efficiency of fictional Japan, and try to understand how a 40-year-old salaryman can't recognize a pair of glasses. The Damage Report: We put our emotional stability on the line across three wildly different titles this week. First up is Makoto Shinkai’s 5 Centimeters per Second, where we debate whether tragic romantic longing is high art or if someone simply forgot that cell phones exist. We also discuss the opening four episodes of Code Geass and the pure tonal whiplash of high-stakes military rebellion colliding with roller-skating mechs and mandatory classroom cleaning duty. Finally, we break down episodes 1 through 5 of Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You, trying to make sense of the Clark Kent effect behind the convenience store while desperately hunting for a phantom dog that Google’s AI promised us was in the cast. 00:00:00 – Welcome to Episode 2 & The Leeds Demographic 00:00:53 – 5 Centimeters per Second (Shinkai's Train Delays) 00:03:37 – The Unsent Letter & Why Didn't He Just Call? 00:07:08 – Surfer Girl Sympathy & Romanticizing the Past 00:09:23 – Snuggling with "Honor" 00:13:20 – PedidosYa Beer Delivery & Acheson Barbera 00:16:06 – Miranda Priestly & The Devil Wears Prada Confusion 00:18:26 – 5 Centimeters per Second Official Ratings 00:22:56 – Code Geass (Assassinations & Area 11 Lore) 00:26:26 – C.C. the Green-Haired Girl & Swapping to Dub 00:29:45 – 21 Jump Street with Mechs 00:32:24 – Code Geass Ratings & Roller-Skating Mechs 00:34:01 – What Actually Makes Animation "Good"? 00:36:45 – Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You (The AI Dog Mystery) 00:41:06 – Yamada vs. Tayama & The Clark Kent Disguise 00:44:18 – The Midriff Incident & Two-Timing Theories 00:49:03 – How Sasaki Will Handle the Reveal 00:50:45 – Smoking Behind the Supermarket Official Ratings 00:53:23 – Frieren & The Existential Dread of Immortal Elves 00:57:04 – Next Week's Homework: Evangelion & Toradora! 01:00:32 – Vermeil in Gold & Demon Mana Logistics 01:02:48 – Deep Pontifications: Búhos, Cat Sounds & Rubén Darío 01:06:36 – Sign-Off: Stay Damaged Music: "I Got a Stick Arr Bryan Teoh" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ "Magic Escape Room" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

The Pilot: Behind the Supermarket, We Smoke With Ron's Cat

We're back after years of silence, to catch up, complain about failing joints, and accidentally start an anime podcast. In this pilot episode, Zach confesses he gets emotionally wrecked by high school rom-coms just to feel something, Ron dodges construction workers and tracks down a runaway cat in Nicaragua, and we both try to understand why anime student councils possess the sovereign authority to overthrow governments. Plus: ghost kitchen delivery economics, Sir Hiss-a-lot the ball python, why werewolves make terrible tenants, and naming the show in real time.
